I don't believe that there is anyway that Payton would go to Canton for a player he never even coached without having some benefit to it. Payton would have thought this over carefully. He's there for a reason.
I just wonder why the Kommisar would even consider extending the olive branch unless he had a good reason too. My money says Payton is smarter and will come out of this looking better.
