this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I dont, but I can hear the media now screaming that Payton was classless to show up and take away the well earned attention from Roaf. It will be just another way for the media to try and paint Payton ...

Do you think Paytons appearance at the HOF game will steal limelight from Roaf?
I dont, but I can hear the media now screaming that Payton was classless to show up and take away the well earned attention from Roaf. It will be just another way for the media to try and paint Payton and our organization in a dark light. Its bad enough Payton cannot be involved with professional football, but they don't even want him to be a fan. **** them.

Payton won't steal any limelight... ESPN will just show footage of him being at the ceremony for a week straight and have all of their hack analysts (ahem... I meant to say hack anal cysts) debate whether or not it was appropriate that he was there.

Spot on, Willie will be fine and will get his due, but the aftermath will continue through at least week 1, possibly longer. The mother ship blows.

There's usually a big difference between what really happens and what the talking heads think what happened. It doesn't matter what they say, I for one am not gonna believe'em.

I embrace the hate...if they want to paint the Saints or Payton in a negative light, I say bring it. I don't care. I almost kind of hope they DO blow it up into a minor scandal, I really hope they do, because every time the mediabots cluck their tongues and talk about Payton "taking away attention from Roaf,"they will actually be mentioning Roaf's name on TV, and giving Willie even more attention and mentions in the press than if they just ignored him completely, like you know deep down they really want to do. Most people out there don't know who the heck Willie Roaf is, so in a perverse way if the bounty scandal and Payton being there becomes a big media deal, it will actually teach the world, and help some people out there to learn about Willie Roaf and how great he was.
