Newest inductee to the NFL Hall of Fame - Willie Roaf
I hope someday seeing former Saints players in the Hall of Fame will be common place, but until that happens, I'm proud that Willie is one of the very few. He was and still is a class act and an example to young players.
Congratulations Willie. You deserve it. |

He has a great story too. His family was well educated. His mother was a politition and his father a dentist. They wanted him to go to Harvard or Yale, and he could have but he decided to go to school here. Apparantly he is an all around great guy.

Roaf didn't want to leave New Orleans.......back then Benson loved to sell his good players like slaves and make a buck. No disrespect intended.

Its true, he did that a lot. Wesley Walls, Hebert, Anderson, just to name a few off the top of my head. One could even argue Delhomme. Didn't Joe Horn bang Roafs wife or something though and he asked to be traded?

Both Horn & Roaf have tried to dispel this rumor. Heck knows if it's true, but Horn DID offer to take a paternity test. What IS known is that Roaf missed the 2nd half of the 2001 season after hurting his MCL, and was traded pre-draft to KC for a 3rd round pick. At the time it was rumored that his knee wasn't healing properly, but he started all 16 games for KC in 2002 & made the Pro Bowl.
