PLAY CALLING
Does anyone feel the play calling should be a little more agressive than what it has been. Good win over Tampa and all but over all our play calling can be better. At times it looks as if we don't take advantage of he coverage with our speed on the outside. And can someone explain to me what was Hasslett thinking on the 2 point conversion and lets not forget that untimely blitz for Alstott's touchdown. PLEASE EXPAIN??!!

PLAY CALLING
of course we should be more aggressive, several of us have stated that for a several weeks now. i agree it was a good win, but we can do better play calling, it hasnt been that good for the past few weeks and mcarthy needs to get his act together for the final 4 games. im not sure about the blitz on alstotts TD, i missed the first half and was unable to see that part, but im sure someone has a logical expaination for it, the 2pt conversion i disagree with completly b/c it was only the beginning of the 2nd quarter, we still had almost 2 and 1/2 quarters of football left to score more pts, i just dont understand it, i think that any team should wait to go for 2 pts until at least the 4th quarter, when the game is almost at an end and the score is almost predictable.

PLAY CALLING
Haz has already mentioned in the news that the Alstott TD was on the coaches cuz they called an all out blitz package.
The 2-pt conversion was a definitelya strange play. :casstet: |

PLAY CALLING
Play calling is pretty bad. How many times a game do you see Brooks drop back and just sit there. Then the pocket brakes down and he scrambles out to one side, looking, looking, and then throws it away. That\'s because the receivers all run 5-10 crosses or hooks. Defenses know that\'s what\'s coming. They bring men up and sit in zones. We need to start throwing the ball down the field 15-20 yards with greater consistency, and taking a few chances with the home run ball. Short routes in the west coast offense or supposed to be three step drops, and get the ball out fast. We don\'t run quick slants or outs. We run 10 yard patterns with 5 step drops that take 3 to 4 seconds to materialize.

PLAY CALLING
Play calling is not completely the coach\'s fault either. Brooks makes some pretty questionable audibles at the line. Sometimes I dont know if he scared to have the play in his hand or if he is just too cocky and wants to be the center of the offensive attention. I do know that the coach\'s have made some bad decisions and put Brooks in some bad situations but it works both ways. If the guys would do their job then everything would be different. Look how long everyone has complained about the buccaneers offense not being high powered but it\'s the personnel. Sometimes I wonder if Coach Haslett and McCarthy are scared to let Brooks go wide open. Bottom line Saints need to do a better job at schemeing the different teams.

PLAY CALLING
I personally would like to see a little more aggressiveness as well. I\'m not saying go over the top and throw long on every play or blitz 30 times a game, but we could benefit from changing our gameplan a little, i.e. putting more pressure on opposing QBs, stepping up the pass rush (we used to lead the league in sacks) and taking more shots at the long pass down the field when the opportunity presents itself.
Change can be good, when it\'s well thought out and done right. If our opponents really do have a good handle on what to expect when they come up against the SAINTS, then let\'s give them some new (or old) looks that throw them off. As always, this is just my opinion. Go SAINTS!!!!! Davin in Houston |
