With all the talent and depth we have
And considering we are short draft picks, at the end of preseason can Vitt just knee some of the players in the balls and say they are injured then stash them on IR for next year? No doubt some of these players like Cadet probably won't clear wires.

OMG that's funny!!! Payton is very good at stashing 1st year players on IR. I wonder how we compare to the rest of the NFL in that category?

Speaking of unknown talent, I wonder if that Laurence Wilson kid makes the 53?

It's a common thing in the NFL, last week of preseason, a bright young up-and-coming kid pinches his finger opening a DVD box in the film room, goes on IR.
That said, in all fairness, I think ya'll are maybe tripping a little bit -- nobody else in the NFL cares or knows about Travares Cadet right now. Appalachian State? Pearl River Community College? He is off peoples' radar. Enjoy him! |

If Cadet continues to produce in the preseason, Ivory may end up out of a job.

If Cadet keeps playing like tonight, he won't last long on the practice squad.

You would be insane if you think that every teams scouting department is looking at every bit of film aviable from the preseason. All good performances where guys stand out will be noted with great interest. In that aspect the NFL is an equal opportunity chance for employment, where you played before doesn't matter as long as you beat the guy ahead of you.

Oh sure other teams are maybe looking, but try and be objective here. Every team has a camp beast RB, they are a dime a dozen. And it's happened with Saints bubble players who clear waivers, plenty of times before. I remember people were flipping out over Joque Bell a couple years ago, and he cleared waivers, in preseason, no problem, no one at the time wanted him. Chase Daniel even cleared waivers one time, and was blowing in the wind, could have been signed by anybody out there, but he wasn't. There are other players it's happened with too.
I'm just saying, I think ya'll are looking at him through black and gold lenses. And not realizing how good your own scouting department is.....The Saints have a really good scouting department to find these unknown gem people we all love, like Cadet, Ivory, Bell, and small school guys like Colston, crazy linebacker draft picks from Canada, basketball players as tight ends, and off the radar stuff like that; other teams do not always have that same kind of sophistication and skill in identifying diamonds in the rough. Also you have guys from the past like Mike Bell -- he did pretty well for us, then goes to Cleveland and what happens? Not much. He didn't look good there at all. Other teams scouts know how good our line is. They can look at a guy and gauge how he would do with their line, as part of the equation. Somebody might want Cadet, eventually down the road, but I don't think a lot of teams would consider him first string material, over what they already have in camp. Because every team has 2-3 guys like him right about now.And you are looking at it through black and gold glasses, because other teams' scouts and other people out there are biased against taking a chance on small school, unknown, unproven guys. Which is why those guys end up here, and doing so well! |
