Revamped Saints praise new defense

Haslett optimistic over recent additions

RIDGELAND ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢Â‚Â¬Ã¢Â€Â One of the first questions New Orleans Saints coach Jim Haslett fielded Monday was from a fan wanting to know if the team had gotten any secondary help for cornerbacks Fred Thomas and Ashley Ambrose.

Haslett grinned, turned to his left and pointed to defensive linemen Darren Howard and Brian Young, who were among those in the Saints' promotional caravan that stopped at Northpark Mall.

"Yeah," said Haslett, with a grin on his face. "Here's their help. Anytime you can rush the passer and stop the run, it helps out your cornerbacks a lot."
