Starting Jake?...hhhmmm....interesting. I wouldn`t be totally against that. Jake obviously would be going in with a good confidence level after last weeks closure, and what a slap on the Ravens \"uh, our golden boy is resting, we`re sending in the second string.\" I`d rather see Jake go in against the Ravens than against a much improved Viking team the following week. You know the Baltimore defense will becoming after Brooks knowing the slightest hit could re-injure him and send him to the sidelines. So, even though I have a better attitude toward Brooks after last week, I would not be totally against Delhomme taking the reins and let Brooks rest. (assuming of course that Brooks is not 100% or could be easily re-injured. If Brooks is 100%, I say play him. You can`t replace momentum.)

Deuce at 10% is better than our other 2 RB\'s combined at 100%. Thats why he plays no matter what. Look at the Eagles you dont necessarily need the starter in there. Also, the last few SB\'s have been won with back-up QB\'s. I think Delhomme is competent enough to lead the Saints. He not try to force nothing and he very efficeint. Even if it is a bruise on his throwing arm, it is still very painful and u cant use normal mechanics with it. He might make some good plays but overall I think he do more harm then good for the team.

the reason that the eagles have succeeded with their back up is not b/c he plays a super great offensive game but b/c he doesnt turn the ball over and he lets the D win the game, the eagles won last week playing the rams not b/c the offense won but cuz the D shut the rams O down. im not sayin jake isnt good enough to lead the saints, im saying that if AB is able to play, that he should so it doesnt disrupt the team and the offense

What if AB is able to play but not 100% and he comes in and stinks up the joint. Wouldnt that hurt chemistry too? I like the idea of him playing but not the whole game. If our D is so revived like everyone all of a sudden thinks it is because it shut down a non- high powered offense then let Jake just go out there and not lose it. Personally the D still scares the hell out of me and Im not sure if its the personnell or the play calling. Too many blitzes at the wrong time and not enough at the right times. I say we use this game as a measuring stick of sorts for our team. This game will be about heart and desire. We all know Deuce definitely has it and as for everyone bashing him about his injury plagued career at Ole Miss, guess we know who the man is now. anyways, Go Ricky Go, I can see that 1st rd. pick now!!! Deuce is still the man no matter what, he is the heart and soul of the team. He will make whatever QB we stick back there look like Montana.

The team chemistry thing really cracks me up . These are professional athletes , here today , capped out tomorrow . The west coast offense is about timing , the chemistry is there if a player sits a week or two .Knowing the other player besides you and his weakness is chemistry . Not sure Brooks has Chemistry with the receivers , that might explain why he looks lost about a third of the time .

I agree completely with that statement - Brooks does look lost quite often.

To the Brooks loyalists, think about this: Everyone thought the season was over two years ago when Blake went down and this unknown Brooks kid came in. I bet the Rams thought that about Bulger, the Patriots about Brady, the Ravens about Dilfer (although he wasn\'t unknown). The point is, here we have a good back up that everyone has confidence in. Give him his chance. At least he\'s not some unknown rookie.

Delhomme knows the Saints system, probably better than Brooks. He is the prototypical quarterback for the west coast offense, and most importantly, he\'s smart. If the plan is to control the ball and let our defense win for us (which I agree is laughable), then who do you think is better suited to do that? The injured interception prone Brooks, or a smart drop back passer built for our system?

Bottom line - Delhomme deserves his chance. If the Saints don\'t give it to him, he\'ll probably leave after this season so he can fight for a starting spot somewhere. Then who are we left with? JT - great. Then you would have to put Brooks on the field with a broken leg before you let that clown play.

To have that opinion means you\'re overlooking one very important factor. Brooks is the STARTER for a reason. If Jake was so much better (and he isn\'t) he would have (should have) shown that in camp. Nothing against Jake...I like him...but AB won the starting job for a reason...and at the time was making less than Jake. AB has thrown some INT\'S this year...every QB has, and his worst stretch was when he didn\'t have a running game. You don\'t yank your QB in the NFL because of one bad game or a few poorly advised throws. Where would Brett Farve be today if he got yanked every time he threw multiple INT\'S in a game? Stever Spurrior is learning that now. This ain\'t college. Stability at the QB position is key. You\'re all quick to point out the INT\'S, but none of you want to discuss the TD passes. Sounds a little short-sighted to me.

Johnny Unitas was cut by Pittsburgh before Hall of faming it in Baltimore.
Favre was 2nd string and traded from the Falcons before Hall of faming it in Packerville.
Which means what you show in camp ain\'t always all there is. But hey, that\'s what the coach\'s go on. In my own little humble opinion Jake can run this offense with the weapons it has the way it should be. The problem is that coaches are trying to make AB into a pure pocket passing QB (which Jake is). AB\'s not Montana, or Favre, or anyone close to that. The sooner these guys figure out they need to move AB around more when he throws the better for all....nuff said..

AB was a...ummmm...3rd string in Green Bay...then 2nd behind Blake. Is he Farve...nope...never said he was. I never said he was Montana either. All I\'m sayin is if Jake was as awesome as people in here think (and it seems to be the ones that are anti-Brooks) then why didn\'t he beat AB for the Job in training camp...since he apparantly knows the offense better and is a better pocket passer and is smarter and all that jazz? Can\'t be a money issue...he was making more than Brooks in camp. Is it because of his Louisiana connection? Why are so many people in here wanting to get rid of Brooks? The reason Jake isn\'t starting and AB is must have SOMEthing to do with performance. Brooks has thrown some bad passes to be sure, but I\'ve seen him throw some lazers that few other QB\'s could throw.

Why in the world is everyone in such a hurry to bench Brooks? A few years ago he WAS the 2nd string QB who came in for Blake and took his team to the playoffs. We\'ve been there and done that. He got in the game and was simply to talented to take out. If not for AB\'s arm and a wonderfully fortunate special teams play we\'d have lost to the Rams in the playoffs...AB was a BIG part of that win as I recall.

AB is a quality QB with a bright future. Sure he still has things to learn, but WHY WHY WHY is everyone so interested in benching him...everyone except for me and the Saints coaches and a few other folks in here? WHY WHY WHY? I think you guys just like to see me get stirred up. :P

The reason is Saintsfan , and very well stated by yourself I must add is , he is no Favre and not even in the same league as Montana . Brooks was a third string quarterback , promoted to starter because of his exception ability to evade a pass rush . By both means of running and scrambling . Promoted by a Defensive coordinator / head coach in his first coaching tenure . Our offensive coordinator has never been anything but a quarterbacks coach , and a fine job he has done on Brooks . Does any starting quarterback in the league have worse basic throwing mechanics ??

Mueller put the talent on the table and told Haslett to coach . The fact that Mc Carthy is still the offensive coordinator in New Orleans , when they have a true offensive coordinator there in Riley still baffles me .

When you consider , Walsh designed the west coast offense for a medium ranged accurate passer , which Jake is and realize Brooks is not , you have to wonder if Jake would not be able to get more production out of the offense designed for his abilities .

Haslett is a good motivator , but definately not a brain surgeon as they say . Haslett was a defensive coordinator and player on defense , what is the weakness of the Saints ??
Hasletts first free agent signing to run the west coast offense in New Orleans ?? A short long ball thrower that has trouble throwing the sideline out pattern .

Notice the media dropping off the Brooks band wagon ??

You said it , he is no Favre ....
