The New England Patriots defeated the New Orleans Saints 7-6 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. Thursday night.
The Saints (1-1) will return home and continue Training Camp this week prior to facing the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Friday night at 7 p.m. (CST/WVUE-FOX8). The Patriots will host the Philadelphia Eagles in their next preseason game on Monday, Aug. 20, on ESPN. "The overall execution of our football team, particularly with our defense and our coverage units, really improved from a week ago,” said Assistant Head Coach/Linebackers Coach Joe Vitt. “We are happy so far with the way we are coming along. We have a big week coming up, this is the last week of training camp. We have a lot of things to get cleaned up. We have a lot of teaching to do. We are excited to do that." Re: New Orleans Saints Fall to New England Patriots, 7-6
Just some thoughts..
Who replaced Coutney Roby with Jordy Nelson? Dude has stepped up his game 3 or 4 notches. He will not go quietly into the night! Is Martez trying to get kicked off of special teams? Joe Morgan kinda disappointed me. Ivory may be unemployed (for a few hours) when final cuts are announced. Higgins looks like a keeper. Hey Chase, LACES OUT!!! Lofton is officially a beast. I hope the playcalling was intentionally vanilla. It looks like we're developing a solid D-line. Marquis Johnson looks like our best CB so far. Very under-rated pickup. Back-up safeties look promising. Our DB's have never looked so good or so deep as what we have now. I dozed off during New Englands scoring drive. What happened? |

Re: New Orleans Saints Fall to New England Patriots, 7-6
2 straight preseasons Roby has flashed productive receiving potential. His straight line speed can make Morgan importance obsolete and shiftiness could be quite effective in the slot.
If we were making cuts today, I'd probably send Morgan on his way. When hype doesn't translate into production, he's just another one of those athletic speedsters. Those are a dime a dozen. |

Did Drew play at all?
Guess I should've read the article first. Instead I'll ask, was the defense playing fairly vanilla and still getting after it. Or were they showing us some complications last night? |
