Who Dats expect a first-series touchdown from No. 9 every game, as he gave them last week with a 77-yard drive against the Arizona Cardinals.

Sure, but you follow that without making a first down in two series against the Patriots, and it's a horror of horrors.

It always will be like that for Brees, simply because he has raised the bar so high he'll be spending the rest of his career battling himself.

Which takes us to Thursday night's No. 1 story: How high has the Saints' defense raised the bar?

As you watched the group put together by first-year coordinator Steve Spagnuolo go about business against one of the top pick-em-apart quarterbacks in the league, you wonder if Who Dats will be expecting too much so soon.

From one preseason game to the next, what stuck out the most was tackling.

No offense but why does this article seem to be hating on Brees? I I personally think Brees is better than Brady and is the best qb RIGHT NOW. I'm happy if our defense is great though.


Plus that game was highly in the pats favor. Brees had few weapons compared to Brady(who had both Hernandez and GRONK) and Brees didn't even have jimmy graham which made it hard for him to get much going. Plus I think this game was our "defense test game".

I took a lot away from the HoF game... I am taking nothing away from the Thursday night game against the Pats.

There are so many extenuating circumstances surrounding that game than I can list but I will try.

1. Second preseason game.
2. Conditioning is just starting and the game was only 3 days after their last game.
3. Thursday night games usually follow a Sunday HOME game.
4. Our starting Offense practiced with the Pats starting defense for three days before the game. It was all vanilla and both sides had three days of preview...
