Drew Brees on replacement officials: "I would be concerned if it went into the regular season"

We know and respect and trust their level of expertise and the type of game they're going to call.

Brees sees how a non-veteran crew can be affected as a non-veteran roster would be.

"It's just like on a team if you said 'hey, we're going to put five rookies in front of you and a bunch of first-year players catching the ball and running the ball. You just don't have the same level of trust and confidence."

Brees also said it's important to keep from thinking too much about the replacement official situation in games.

"We are going to worry about the things we can control, and that's playing football and trying to not give them a reason to make it close."

Oh good. I think this is a clue, that we may be in for some good ole Bellichick-style running-up-the-score on people this year, just because we're p-ssed at the league, like the Pats did after Spygate. I really want the Saints to put a 50 or 60 burger on a few teams this year. Just because you're not supposed to.

I'm hoping that one upside of not having Payton this year, is that we won't do that chivalrous, "gentleman-coach" thing Payton always does at the end of blowouts, of running the ball down to the other team's 10 and then slowly taking a knee at the end of games, leaving points out there. I want to see them punch it in, LOL.
