I get what you're saying, but the real issue of timing is that this is a new HBO show that is coming out, which could have been months in the making. I agree with you, why now, but keep in mind-- for all we know, the actual interview with Gleason itself could be from anytime, from back in February or something. We just don't know. Think of "Game Of Thrones" or "Treme"...HBO takes months to get their stuff together.

I think that Gleason is also saying "no one was shocked" but keep in mind, he was only there in the room as a guest when the insane 49ers speech was given-- he was not privy to what the current players said or did amongst themselves, especially all season long. He doesn't know who was really shocked or not.

Maybe "no one was shocked" because Williams had been saying psychotic and insane stuff for three years, as an obvious rhetorical or allegorical device. But it wasn't real, which is what everyone who was really on the inside is saying, including Vitt and Gregg Williams himself ('he knew it was wrong but got carried away with it").

Because it's obvious from the way that they played all year, that the Saints defensive players were used to Williams' rantings, and they took it with a HUGE grain of salt,or understood that it was just rhetoric or language. It's a weird thing for Gleason to say, but I will wait until I see the whole interview to decide what I think. But.. if you put yourself back in the moment when Pampillon "leaked" that audio, this quote sounds exactly like the type of comment that many people were making back when that 49ers audio first dropped, in the initial flush of anger, not what people are saying now. It could be footage which somebody taped and then sat on. We'll find out.

You know I love Steve and I didn't want to come on here and say this out of fear I'd look heartless, but that is exactly my question. Wasn't he pissed a few months ago that this was released without his permission? Now it seems like he has done a 180.

Agreed, one of my HS coaches did the same thing before a game against a team that was sure to destroy us (and did). He's like- this is David vs Goliath, now go out and F someone up. Lower your F-ing head and put someone on the bench.

I really want the bou***** story to end and move on. Done. Whatever still happening with it is on the last page of things.

I don't know what they're trying to accomplish. You are correct that this may have been a piece done months ago and also they may have highlighted something Gleason said and took it out of context.
