Saints Linebackers Suffer Injuries and a Suspention
Beyond Chris Chamberlain's season-ending injury, New Orleans Saints MLB Curtis Lofton and WLB David Hawthorne both suffered injuries in the Saints preseason loss to the Jaguars on Friday night.
Interim coach Joe Vitt said Monday that starting MLB Curtis Lofton suffered a high ankle sprain against the Jaguars, and starting WLB David Hawthorne suffered a meniscus injury that will require surgery.
Vitt also announced that Ramon Humber, brought in as a backup linebacker and slated as Lofton's replacement was suspended for failing a drug test.
Then about an hour after Vitt spoke, Lofton's replacement, Ramon Humber, confirmed he has been suspended for the first three games for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.

On the prognosis of both Lofton and Hawthorn, Vitt said today:
Lofton will not play Saturday against the Texans, but Vitt says he thinks he will be ready for the regular season opener September 9.
Linebacker David Hawthorne:
"the diagnosis on David is encouraging. He hurt it early in the game and played on it." Vitt said he thinks Hawthorne also has a good chance to be back in time for the regular season opener.
