Saints acquire LB Barrett Rudd from Seahawks for an Undisclosed Pick

The Saints signed Linebacker Barrett Rudd from Seattle. Anyone know anything about him? Might as well make one thread about all new LB signings because there will probably be a bunch.

Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced that the club has acquired linebacker Barrett Ruud from the Seahawks in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick.

If their is cap room, they should look into Merriman.

Its at a point you have to look at just about anyone as far as LBers go.

He's a LB, I just remember him when we played TB and he was with them...

I found this:

David Hawthorne is now with the Saints. His replacement could be Barrett Ruud. Calling this a massive downgrade is a major understatement. Ruud was one of the five worst starting linebackers in the NFL last year. He's been terrible for the past few seasons.

Rudd played MIKE for the bucs and started for 2 seasons. Mostly noted for getting run over by Ivory. In fact the only time I have seen him mentioned he is getting trucked by some RB... Crap signing, wont start but will add depth I guess. Would still like to see Merriman get a shot.

Great! The other LBs are so great at stoping the run that he can focus on other things!

Uh... he had a couple of solid years for the Bucs. In fact, at one point I really liked the guy. It seems he's fallen off the map quite a bit, but I doubt we gave up anything for the guy. Not a lot of risk here and there's a little upside.

Agreed, he was a very good LB for the Bucs; they changed schemes and he didn't fit in...

As difficult as it is to say this, I'd rather see one of our guys getting trucked by trying than some guy pulling up with a lame move just for style points...

If we signed him, somebody (maybe Spagnuolo) sees something...

Merriman? can he really still play on that artificial knee?

Would prefer youth, but it's not like there's alot of quality LB out there for us...

And leave Martez right the F**K where he is; I want to see a F***ing Pass Rush in this decade!
