What about Jerry Glanville?

Re: Jon Gruden
I'd love to have Gruden coaching for the Saints at some point but not right now. I think the interim interim HC should be Kromer or Charmichael.

Re: Jon Gruden
I wonder if we would have gotten an extension of training camp if he or Parcells had been named our interim head coach at the outset.

The Saints will stay in house, of that I'm sure. Who it will be? Not so sure, but my guess is Kromer.

Re: Jon Gruden
No reason to name Bill... er... someone now who can freely talk to Sean Payton about the offense, as long as Bill... er...that someone agrees to let Spagnuolo do what he does. Better to wait until the last game of preseason to sign B.. er... someone, or even surprise everyone when Bi... er.. that someone walks out of the tunnel come Sunday 9/9/2012

Re: Jon Gruden
I think it's far fetched to think the Saints would hire an interim coach and have him show up out of the blue for opening day, BUT then again the Saints organization has become imaginative and visionary.
I never question Mickey Loomis anymore because he just knows more than I do. End of conversation. You always get the feeling anything is possible with the Benson family and the Saints (Superdome, Mercedes-Benz corp. sponsor, Super Bowl, statues, Champion Square, Skyscrapers, Local TV affiliates, the Hornets... I could go on and on.) Besides my outward dislike for Tom Benson and the organization in the past, they have become VERY entertaining. As far as someone behind the scenes working already, a named star, former coach, etc. etc. .... with this team, the sky is always the limit. |

With technology today, I don't think someone outside the organization would be completely out of the question. The possibility of someone joining meetings remotely and joining in by voice/video is something that could stay out of the media. Would give someone outside the organization a "view" into the organization before they stepped foot in the building. During the Jag game the announcers were talking about why the Saints may keep a 3rd QB, because Brees may have too much to do with Payton's suspension. The only reason I would think of bringing in an outside interim coach is to releive some of the HC responsibilities from the other coaches. The players are going to take some leadership no matter who is HC. I run Messaging/Voice/Video systems for some major companies (worldwide). The infrastructure to make something like that happen is available, but is it something the Saints would consider. If they are creative enough it may have been considered, but we really won't find out until they release what they are going to do. The HC decision to me is more about what role the person in the HC position takes. The interim HC could take several different roles, but will be up to the people involved to determine what role that is. |
