this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Realistically, Detroit wouldn't offer anything that would be worth losing Cadet or Ivory... Unless the Saints have already made up their minds about cutting one or the other. If the plan is to keep them both, then I'd say no. ...

As this team has seen, injuries can come in bunches... Ingram and PT go down for example, then I feel great with Sproles, Ivory and Cadet in a rotation. A 6th or 7th round pick won't make me feel any better if that scenario played out. |

Re: Trade Bait
The Saints lost Ingram against the Texans when he shouldn't have been playing, and we lost PT against 40-whiners last year.
The domino effect was that Sproles was taken off KO/PT return duties and a rusty player, (Joe Morgan) was inserted with disastrous results. Although no one can predict when or if a player will be lost to injury, it may be in the Saints best interest to keep all 5, and then use Tusk or Cadet as trade bait later in the season. The Steelers are another team that needs a RB; I don't know if they have any players the Saints would be interested in. |

Re: Trade Bait
Why would anybody want to offer a trade when they know we have to cut someone. We would have to keep them both and cut someone else to remotely have a chance at a trade and then I still don't see it happening.

Re: Trade Bait
I hate to be the one to tell you this, but nobody else in the NFL cares who the hell these people are. Cadet, Ivory, these guys are undrafted free agent dudes from small schools that nobody else has ever heard of, with tiny track records, no one cares a tiny bit about either of them, every other team has their own group of camp beast running backs, and as hard as it is for some Saints fans to realize, Cadet and Ivory have NO VALUE in trade in the real world. It's just part of doing business with the great front office we have. Nobody wants these guys, no one knows who they are, but we see it inside them and that's what makes them special.

Believe me that there are probably 15 teams waiting to see if the Saints cut Cadet, and that is why a team would potentially give up a draft pick in a trade for either one of these guys, so that they won't have to battle with the other teams over the guys signature once he would be cut. |

Re: Trade Bait
It's a busy couple of weeks for teams right now. Lousy time for trades, everybody is waiting to drop / add.

Re: Trade Bait
Trade for what exactly? A draft pick makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. We would only get a late round pick for them. Why gamble on picking someone with that pick just to hope they pan out. We already know what Cadet and Ivory can do, and thats way more than we are going to get out of ****ty draft pick. I can guarantee you if either of these guys gets cut they aren't even going to sniff the practice squad. Someone will pick them up like a free hooker in a prison. This is why I think we keep both. If we are going to make a trade, do it later in the season if someone gets injured.
