Now, they can slide him on their practice squad. I think that's what the Saints were hoping to do. I wish the Saints would claim him, cut one of the FB's, and after a day cut him again. Then, sign him to the practice squad. To heck with the Patriots.

Doh! So if a player is picked up by another team, even if they're cut, they can't go on ANY other team's practice squad or just the team that initially cut them?

Tennant was in the active roster for 12 games last season, so he isn't eligible based on that alone - a player can't be in the active roster for 6 or more games in the previous season (with the current team) in order to be eligible for the team's practice squad.

At least that is how I remember it...

Really too bad about Tennant, hopefully the guy we've got now proves to be teachable. Can't get much better of an O-line coach than Kromer. Dude has absolutely nothing to prove anymore about how to make a great unit, so if he says Tennant had to go I definitely respect his opinion
