Would Vitt just take over?
If the Saints go 6-0 or 5-1 in the first 6 games.... would Vitt really just come in and take over even at the risk of disrupting the rhythm of the team?

Re: Would Vitt just take over?
"Take Over" is not exactly how I see it. When Vitt returns it will continue the way it has been built. Carmichael running the offense, and Spags running the Defense.
All Kromer is going to do for the first 6 games is decide whether to take the penalty or decline.... And have his hand on the red flag if needed. And make O-Line substitutions. It has been designed to run smoothly weather it is Vit, Kromer, or the Easter Bunny. |

If Carmichael/Brees are running the office and Spag's is running the defense what is left? L/R/C on kick offs and punts? That would be McMahon Do you recall the banner from Payton saying "Do your job?"... Those coaches need to do their job. If they do their job there will be no issues. The Colts did just fine from 09-11 with no head coach and the QB running the plays. |

A lot like Dilfer, just don't do anything dumb and let the machine do its work Lucky for us we have a pretty darn reliable machine named Drew |
Re: Would Vitt just take over?
I really think the veteran leadership on the team is going to take more of a mentor approach.
They may hit a snag or two, but believe the player leaderrship will drag them through if necessary. |
Re: Would Vitt just take over?
And that is my point. If you look at one specific comment from Sean Payton in his interview he stated: "we built a program"..a system.. He also pushed collaboration... Which means every single coach was part of every single decision process... This trained our present coaches on how Sean Payton came to his decisions and they know how he thinks.
The Saints are not one person running everything. |
Re: Would Vitt just take over?
Regardless of how the Saints are doing at the point at which Vitt's suspension is over - he should take over the interim HC position, if not for any other reason than his press conferences are more entertaining than Kromer's.

Re: Would Vitt just take over?
Vitt is a lifetime veteran of the NFL coaching world and is football to the bone. He's been coaching since Earl Campbell was the league MVP and almost since the days when a lot of dudes wore single bar facemasks, that's how old school he is.The players respond well to him and he will be welcomed back when the time comes, just as they will welcome Payton back when that time comes.
