A look at the NFC South...
Exactly my point TD, thanks for the backup. If you want to make the guy into the \"prototypical\" NFL QB, then yes, he needs to change. But it\'s exactly his divergence from the average that makes him great. You take away his feet and Vick probably won\'t ever be more than slightly above average as a QB. You let him use those feet and he\'s a hall of famer if you ask me.

A look at the NFC South...
I don\'t think the problem is that they want him to stop running. I think they want him to be a bit less reckless when he does. The falcs have Steve Young in trying to tutor him on the finer points of the WCO, including when and how to run.
I think the pocket passer thing may be more directed at his lack of ability to pick up the 2nd and 3rd reads. He\'s taking off too fast. If he could develop more pocket-passer skills combined with his awesome running ability, combined with the ref\'s protecting him if you even breath on him, he would be virtually unstoppable. Just my 2 cents. |

A look at the NFC South...
To get back on the Vick debate:
In his second game back last year Vick was ruined by the Colts\' defense. He was sacked numerous times, fumbled, and went 6/19 for 49 yards, no td\'s and an interception. He was held to 30 yards rushing all day. He had a HORRIBLE day. And, mind you, the Colts\' D was only ranked #11 in the country. If people are obsessing over Vick\'s legs and his speed, then why not just line him up as a running back? He can\'t throw at all. In the games that I\'ve seen him play in, most of his passes are at least 5 yards away from the target. In his 4 games last year, he was completing 50% of all his passes. That\'s pathetic by NFL standards. And in 2002, when he played 15 games, he completed 55% of his passes. That also is terrible. Anyway, my prediction for the NFC South: New Orleans 11-5 Atlanta 9-7 Carolina 8-8 Tampa Bay 6-10 |

Basically what you guys have said about Vick is exactly what I said. There is no doubt in my mind that Vick is an incredible athlete, but if he becomes a pocket passer ONLY, he\'s going to struggle at the outset. If he uses his legs, they win games. If they take that away from him, they don\'t. The more he runs the ball, though, the more likely he\'s going to be on IR for taking licks and getting injured due to concussion or some other injury like last year. |
