I would think that they would have to give some sort of 2nd round compensatory pick at the least. It may not be the same draft position we would have had last year, but something is better than nothing.

If all the punishment the Saints get is the organizational fine and loss of the draft picks already taken away - I can live with that.

If this all boils down to a Salary Cap Violation: Reduce (by 75%) or Overturn the Loomis, Payton, & Vitt suspensions...

Would include Williams in that, but still think his scheme lost 2 playoff games for the Saints...

Just reported Will Smith will be on the field this Sunday...

Beliefs are the league will not reconsider the other suspensions, but think actions from Benson could result is some sort of pressure on Der Kommisar due to the previous meeting between the two.

After listening to the guys on NFL Network, I don't like what I hear. The ball is back in Rogers hands, all he has to say is that the suspensions fit the detrimental activity term and he can reinstate the suspensions...

It hasn't taken any of his power away, unless I misunderstood...

The appeals decision basically threw this back to Der Kommisar.

Der Kommisar could determine the punishments were based on "conduct detrimental" and hand out the same suspensions.

Judge could thow the appeal board's decision out - Completely vacating the suspensions based on "an unfair process".

Great news fellahs .... as stated earlier, time to get our coaches back and our draft picks. It has now snowballed into an PR nightmare for the league. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the outcome today was predetermined behind the scenes as a way for RG to save face, somehow. I want to see and enjoy all of the sportswriters eat crow!

He has to prove that there was intent to injure. We're back to that - which is what's it been all along, and up to now he has be unwilling (more likely unable) to produce any evidence to prove it.

It gets interesting now for sure (not that it wasn't already). Roger is GOING TO HAVE to produce this mystery evidence OR he's going to have to eat a great big turd burger and shut the hell up.

This is the reason they HAD to rule today...

Members of the appeals panel did not speak publicly, but it's likely they felt compelled to rule quickly after hearing the union's argument last week. If it had waited beyond this week and ruled in favor of the players, it could have been argued that the players had been irreparably harmed. Not only would they have lost out on a Week 1 game check, but also their salaries would not have been guaranteed for the season. Salaries for vested veterans are guaranteed if they're on the Week 1 roster.
