Honestly, I don't know.

Our defense was a little worse than I thought they'd be, but our offense was a bazillion times worse than I thought they'd be.

We're about to find out how much influence Payton had on our offense next week. If we lay an egg against Carolina, its gonna be a long year and we'll struggle to even make the playoffs.
"If we lay an egg against Carolina, its gonna be a long year and we'll struggle to even make the playoffs."

That's my biggest fear.

Offense and defense played as bad as they could possibly play and you're right, we still had a chance to win. I'm not ready to give up on the season, it's only 1 game but the way we played at home against a team not expected to do much was very concerning. Hope this game serves as a wake up call and we get it together soon.

We can't blame losing on a B.S. pass interference call... I agree that it was a horrible call but come on... We looked like garbage. I know it's just the first game but we should've had more motivation than anybody in the league to win today and we looked like that?!?

Only the first game so plenty of time yet!

We definitely missed SP, other coaches did their best but its just not the same with SP on the sideline!

Credit to RG3! I thought he would have a good game today and unfortunately, I was proved right! This always seems to happen to us when all the NFL pundits say we are going to burn the opposition because they have this rookie player starting or that rookie player starting! NEVER UNDER ESTIMATE THE OPPOSITION!

Too many penalties today!

No running game!

Wow! What happened to the defence! Spags has a lot to do to sort this out, if he can!

I won't give up on our team, just because of one poor performance!

Hope things get better next week! After all, as has already been said, we did, NEARLY win todays game!

Re: This is the worst I have seen this team in years.

Well we have done it again. To play as bad as we did in all areas of the game and lose by 8 points, shows some promise. But we need to do a lot of things this week in practice.

1) Defensive backs really hurt us in this game. We could not cover, we could not tackle when needed. Again Roman Harper sux in pass coverage. Though the interference call was questionable, he can't cover a dead man in a coffin.

2) play calling in the game, we have 5 good running backs and we start the game off passing 3 straight. Second series we mixed it up and scored. Third series we threw 3 passes 3 and out. Not knowing the reason for that.

3) key special teams blunder. We stopped Washington on a 3 and out at a key time in the game. But we had a special teams guy jog off the field, WTF, get off the damn field. Result was Washington touchdown.

4) Though I have seen some progress in the defensive line. In the run game. Their was no pressure on RG3 in the pass game. He is talented but he is a rookie, throw everything you got at him.

Can this be fixed, sure it's the first game of the season it can be fixed. Maybe we will learn from this experience. If not well it will a long season.

We also need a corner back, I know Greer has be unable to play but, we have very little talent in the secondary. Maybe we need to trade a running back to bring someone in.

Well we need to work on these things, time to buckle up the chin straps and DO YOUR JOB!!!!

They don't seem to be buying into any of that "Do Your Job" stuff. Did it look like the Saints did their job today?! Rookie QB in our house and we had that happen to us?! I didn't think missing Payton would matter but I don't know about that now.

Why did we not run the ball more? The play calling just seemed out of funk. Definitely, looked out of sink and out of character for the Saints. DO YOUR F* JOB SAINTS!

I believe our defense was the let down. The offense had to deal with bad field position all game - thats not their fault.

Coaching needs some work too but it won't be fixed. So it's a waste of time to harp on that.

Harper sucks in coverage. The PI call was legit because he got burned an he had no other choice. Harper has been the weak link in pass coverage for the last three years - if you cannot see this you are blind.

There was too much pressure on Brees all day. I think they should've dialed up the screen a few more times.
