this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Thoughts on our defensive line play? Seemed to me RG3 had tons of time to make plays. I was expecting an improved pass rush with the front four. I didn't see it....

Re: Def Line
i thought they did a good job getting into the backfield, just have to do a better job coralling the qb. we definately hit him a bunch, however, it was after the ball had left his hand.
they need to do a better job tackling as does the whole defense. |

Re: Def Line
I thought the D-Line played relatively well, especially against the run for the most part...
RGIII's escape-ability gave the line fits, not too mention his screen/dump-off accuracy... |

Re: Def Line
I agree. A less mobile qb would've been dining on some dome turf today. RGIII was just too fast for us. Usually when a qb scrambles his accuracy drops significantly, Griffins was outstanding.

Re: Def Line
I thought we didn't get the push from the D-tackle spots; the combination of Wilson, Smith, Jordan and Gillette needs to be explored more.

Re: Def Line
Also can't take anything from RG3, I just feel a better push in the middle of the line we could have got to him.

Re: Def Line
I'm not buying in that they looked good at all. No one looked good today

Re: Def Line
Luckily we don't have to play an extremely mobile QB with a huge arm next week, too...oh, wait.

I think one of the things to really look at in defense of the defense is the fact no one had game film on RGIII basically you couldnt prepare for him very well like you could a QB thats been in the league more than a year or 2. |
