Flame this, if you can...

Based on how we performed in the season opener, we needed this:

* Talk is cheap. We "TALKED" about how we had a chip on our shoulder and had something to prove. I didn't see it (...did any of you)?

* We were flat. Drew Brees set the tone with the first series of THREE and Out (3 incompletions). Compare this to RGIII starting out with 8 straight completions (albeit of the short variety). That helped him get in a rhythm, and it grew from there.

* There is PARITY in the NFL now. There are no "SCRUB" teams out there. It's on any given Sunday from here on out.

* Uhhhh.... just how many times did we rush the ball?

* Uhhhh.... how many penalties did we have? We CANNOT blame the refs. The 12th man on the field really put a wet rag on the defense... after they actually turned things around to make the Redskins punt.

I could go on, and on... but the points are obvious. We needed this as a WAKE UP CALL. We either circle the wagons and look in the mirror, or this opportunity for a legitimate shot at SB XLVII is a fairy tale.

I, for one, believe we'll turn it around. But we can't blame the refs or take anything from the Redskins. THey played their arse off, and left one of the most hostile (visitor) environments with a "W."

We can do it; the Season Opener was probably the medicine we needed. Hard to admit, but that's the way the cookie crumbles!

OK... flame me.

Re: Flame this, if you can...

You are absolutely right

I think most people (especially myself) are extremely angry with how our team showed up that we are all trying to vent the anger (atleast I am anyway)

I won't blame the refs for the loss even though they f'ed up that PI call on roman Harper, it was perfect coverage and I was proud he stuck with his man and contested the pass and forced an imcompletion, the refs messed that up

Other than that it was a mixture of our offense looking like crap and the redskins taking advantage of something I can only call a very vanilla version of prevent defense

Drew had no time back there and didn't look himself even when he did
Colston didn't look healthy
Joe Morgan isn't ready to be a contributor
Letting meachem go will hurt us

As I've said this is just me expressing my disappointment in our performance, I'll still show up and support every week but we need to do something about this

We need to run the ball to get drew some time, the redskins D knew what was coming, pass pass pass punt

Well said! I am thinking the same thing...this may be the wake up call this team seems to need every year. I hope they learn from it and bring out real "Saints Football" next week!

No chip...we were uninspired and undisciplined as well

* We were flat. Drew Brees set the tone with the first series of THREE and Out (3 incompletions). Compare this to RGIII starting out with 8 straight completions (albeit of the short variety). That helped him get in a rhythm, and it grew from there.

We could not get in sync all day...there were only flashes of the offense we know. It was very smart coaching to dink out those little screen passes, and we could not stop them from doing it so why stop running them
* There is PARITY in the NFL now. There are no "SCRUB" teams out there. It's on any given Sunday from here on out.

I think it is real difficult to paint anything with such broad strokes after only 1 week, but yes there was parity in Week 1

* Uhhhh.... just how many times did we rush the ball?

We dug ourselves a hole and had to give up on the run

* Uhhhh.... how many penalties did we have? We CANNOT blame the refs. The 12th man on the field really put a wet rag on the defense... after they actually turned things around to make the Redskins punt.

Way too many penalties, but the lack of discipline went hand in hand with the way we played the entire game. I can blame the refs for what i thought was bad PI call

I could go on, and on... but the points are obvious. We needed this as a WAKE UP CALL. We either circle the wagons and look in the mirror, or this opportunity for a legitimate shot at SB XLVII is a fairy tale.

I think we will have a decent year. Defense MAY still be a concern, but I feel confident the offense will be as good as last year. Drew came a little late to the party this year and it was a distraction. My biggest concern is not having Payton, we can say anything, but he is one of the driving forces when he is on the sideline. I think we played like a team without leadership, someone to bring the troops back in.

I, for one, believe we'll turn it around. But we can't blame the refs or take anything from the Redskins. THey played their arse off, and left one of the most hostile (visitor) environments with a "W."

Can't flame truth. I was looking forward to watching football all day and night but it wasn't until the 2nd half of the night game that I was able to turn it back on. Last nites game was good though.

Re: Flame this, if you can...

We always lay an egg at some point every season. We got our ass kicked and they deserved to win. We still had a chance in the end and it couldn't have gone any worse. Great time for a wake-up call. We ended up 13-3 and was 0-1 in week one last year. Not time to panic, just time to re-focus.

Did we ever ID that 12th man that let the Skins get a first down after they had punted? Truly disgusting and indicative of the attitude on the bench all game. Complete lack of professionalism by whoever that flaming turd burger was.

Re: Flame this, if you can...

Nice...thought he was turning a corner. Guess with GW gone he can slack off now. Needs to be fined for that mental lapse, or at least apologize to the other 10 guys that had to go back out and play D for his lazy, sorry butt.

We got flat-out beat by the other team, but stuff like Robinson's crap on that lapse is what happens when SP ain't there chewing off and spitting out a piece of Robinson's rear-end within seconds of the flag falling. There's no one there to keep them in check with the whole "Team Concept", so you get this individualistic crap that kills teams.

They'd better straighten this out with a blazing quickness or we will lose this team. May sound like gloom-and-doom, but the team dynamic is fragile, and lapses like these that go unchecked can wreck the best of teams if they continue. Let just go beat the crap outta Cam the Scam and we'll see if I forgive PR for that stupidity in the near future.
