A home game, a virtually national audience, a boost from a judicial ruling vindicating fears of oppression, and a seeming upgrade to the team from the previous year.
The Redskins did nothing fancy. They did nothing but play solid, low risk football. They played loose, they played confidently and they played smartly. The gameplan is in on the Saints: Show up. Do your job. The Saints are a mess. This is going to be a long season. Don't even think about comparing it to the loss last year in the first game to the defending Super Bowl winners. This was a loss to a team that at every position but LB is worse than the Saints. It clearly doesn't matter how talented the players are if they are confused and distracted. It may be game one, but with 5 preseason games and 10 days to prepare, it won't get much better. When's Draft Day 2014? |

I disagree with the gist of this post, but its well written, and some good venting. World 1, Us 0 is a funny title too.

The Redskins played basic football and executed well. We did not rise to the occasion, when we really had many factors in our favor. We looked to be lacking leadership and discipline yesterday

Re: World - 1 Saints - 0
It really did look like a team without a head coach out there. I'm worried that other teams this year will be all excited to come into New Orleans now and punch the Saints in the mouth, because it looked so darn easy for the Redskins to do it. Except for one or two RGIII plays the Redskins didn't really do anything above medicore to average pro football.

Re: World - 1 Saints - 0
Redskins really didn't do anything too elaborate, but they had a good game plan going in, and they executed well. The Saints did not. The Saints are still a good team, a dangerous team. To have played as poorly as they did yesterday, and to still be within reach in the closing minutes is a testament to the level of talent on the team... they need to pull their heads out of their posteriors and execute. "Do your job", they didn't.
Someone posted a thread last week asking, "What's your prediction". I didn't post it because it was way too negative, but my prediction was "RG3 will have a carreer day." Yet I was still hoping we'd win the shootout. For too many years, the Saints have given new QBs, playing their first NFL game, the gift of big numbers. |

Re: World - 1 Saints - 0
I still have faith in this team. We got our ass kicked and still had a chance in the end. RG3 played a great game and our team was flat AS A WHOLE. Worse part of yesterday, for me, was the falcons winning. Division game next Sunday, time for the Saints to refocus and move forward. The Packers and the Giants fans all feel our pain too. Three superbowl-possible teams all beaten at home in the season opener. It happens, just takes the pressure off of the 16-0 season.
