Re: Run the damn ball
One of the greatest pass protection schemes is a hand-off.
It keeps their front seven honest and at least gives them some pause while salivating after Drew. I can see abandoning the run in the 4th quarter when behind, but we do it way to quickly habitually. The way to protect the million dollar man is with balance. The way to give him longevity is with balance. The way to make his job much easier is with balance. Control the line of scrimmage from the start of the game. Our offensive front will have more game success playing on their toes rather than on their heels. |

Re: Run the damn ball
The more I think about this thread the more I want to Run the frikken ball!
Lets see you get "grabby" with Ivory or Thomas. Someone said the Skins D was grabby. You have a fully intact running game that was 6th in the league in rushing in 2011. Stop hoping the receivers can shed their stone hands and RUN THE FRIIKKEN BALL! Gimpy or unproven WRs? RUN THE FRIKKEN BALL! Our Right side O-Line has not changed. Evans and Strief... When running to the right. Pierre Thomas 2011: R-Side 4.9 YPC R-Sideline 6.3 YPC Darren Sproles 2011: R-Side 8.2 YPC R-Sideline 9.3 YPC Chris Ivory R-Side 4.1 YPC R-Sideline 3.2 YPC Mark Ingram R-Side 3.1 YPC R-Sideline 3.2 YPC Travaris Cadet have we forgotten how well he ran in the preseason? You want to wake up a wide receiver? Don't give him the ball... Make them stack right against the run... MAKE THEM... Then dump Left to Jimmy. Across the middle to Jimmy.... Hit the End and RBs all game until the WR that keep dropping balls wake the heck up. And dont tell me pass to catch up! Not when you are completing less than 50% of your passes... thats how you got behind... What did we have due to passing.. 5 three and outs? |

Re: Run the damn ball
Drew and Carmichael wanted to come out and show they could operate without Payton but the only problem was that Drew was a little off on his throws. Yes, we should have ran more but if Drew is on target we are not having this discussion. Like Danno said, there is enough blame to go around from dropping passes to not blocking to giving up on your assignment on defense. It will be corrected and I expect a 2 score win this Sunday.

Re: Run the damn ball
Thanks...
RUN THE BALL! You run the ball at the very least to keep the Defense honest... Note: If you want the talking heads to wake up and take notice... Run the ball down someones throat for a game or two... Much respect is gained with the ground and pound. D and C may have had something to prove ... How did that work out. Sean Payton never did that. Run the Ball! |
