The jogger, Patrik Robinson

I said cut the guy immediately. We can't do that.

"They brought the punt team in quickly, snapped the ball quickly. I was jogging off the field and they caught me," Robinson said Monday, a day after the Saints' 40-32 loss. "That was new for me."

Well, here is something else you can make new from here on out- RUN!

If anyone tweets, go tweet him that idea.

Re: The jogger, Patrik Robinson

Nope, can't cut him. However, the coaching staff should make an example out of his loafing. Beat his butt in the ground all week and leave him out of the starting line-up for Carolina. Yep, I said it. Plays like that and lapses in the mental department is a dangerous precedent. As Barney Fife said, "Nip it in the bud!".

WTF's he doing- hopping off the field?

If I had to do that I would tweet every single member of the team including Drew and that would simply take up too much of my time.

I say he gets his ass chewed out in front of the team god and country. That was bad

Re: The jogger, Patrik Robinson

I wish people would stop with the "cutting" and the "benching". It was dumb, yes. It was a mistake. That one particular dumb move was one example of several yesterday. Can't cut and bench the whole team.

We begin again this week. Let's look forward, not back. You can't change it now, no matter how bad you want to.

What are you talking about? I said to cut him the day it happened. It is me correcting myself and saying well we can't cut the guy. My own admission that I was hot headed during the loss. As for looking forward- my post this morning said "okay, panties next." I think there are a lot of people who were wondering who it was, and I am letting them know who it was.

No, this play is an exception in my opinion- it stinks of laziness. It was ill timed. Not all penalties are alike just because they are all penalties.

Barry from MS 09-10-2012 09:07 PM

Re: The jogger, Patrik Robinson

Keep him out of the starting line-up this week. Let the rest of the team know this kind of crap don't belong on this team. PR is too talented to bench the entire game, but keeping a 1st rounder with his talent out of the starting line-up for a divisional game will let the rest of the team know that these types of mental mistakes (slash laziness) are unacceptable.

I certainly won't apologize for saying that, but you are certainly entitled and more than welcome to your opinion.

I'm just saying the "benchings" and "cuttings" have been thrown around every saints fan website I've been on for two days. I don't care if its a starter or not. The gross overreaction by fans is embarrassing. That's what I'm talking about.

I agree. It's a do "something" reaction.

Our receivers dropped 26 balls but we need to bench the defense.

U know guys we catch every ball that was catchable we would be parting in the streets still. Colston had a simular start last season against the packers if i.m membering right.

Embarrassing, the guy makes millions of dollars, and his job on that play was to get the heck off the field before the snap- he jogged!!! Who should be embarrassed? Patrick Robinson? Yes, he should.

People are going to overreact in the heat of the moment. If it continues, yes I agree with you.

I am not saying we should bench him, **** we can't, lol. Plus PR is getting better and is going to make some plays this week. I am saying get your ass off the field on 4rth GD down and stop frigan jogging.

Sunday can't get here fast enough. Hoping we play the way we are capable this week! I think we are going to be better, but you know this game is going to come down to the wire. Div game at their place. Drew's hitting JG for the game winner with about 48 seconds on the clock.

Re: The jogger, Patrik Robinson

We should cut Drew for that lazy @$$ pass his threw late in the fourth for an interception...

In fact, Pete Carmichael should be fired for the BS call sending the shorter Lance Moore for the over the top, across the middle route instead of Colston who could've just fumbled it after catching it...

We just lost Sean Payton this past offseason! There's gonna be a learning curve...

There are things that don't look good at all, but we're not cutting the Dairy Cows up for Steaks folks!

Re: The jogger, Patrik Robinson

I think you find the film footage of him jogging off the field and run it in SLOOOOOOOW MOTION on the screen at the start of the team meeting, so it takes Robinson like five minutes to get off the screen, bouncing in slo-motion like an astronaut, with some ridiculous NFL Films music playing in the background. Everybody on the team laughs at him, and then it never happens again. OR you punk him with the Thanksgiving Turkey errand in a couple of weeks. One of the two.

17 points.

Robinson keeping the drive alive, they scored a FG
Bogus Pass Interfence on Harper on 4th down, they score TD
Colston fumbles thru endzone, cost us a TD

While the PI call wasn't a mistake by us, those 3 key plays resulted in a 17 point swing.

There is no excuse for JOGGING off the field. EOS. You can point to other mistakes, but that is just laziness. It wasn't just a mistake. Look at the picture, Spags is screaming at the guy to put some pep in his MOFO step. I said during the game when the play happen "whoever that was cut them. Get him out of the building now." Clearly an overreaction in the heat of the moment. Either way that play was huge and couldn't come at a worse time. There were a ton of other mistakes, no doubt, but it is the manner in which it was committed, just flat out laziness. I am not going to compare Drew's int to that. That was a terrible pass though.

That is the absolute best idea!! I am laughing so hard picturing it

If he's obviously trying to get off the field, its a chickensh** penalty.
and it affected the entire momentum of the game.
exactly what you dont want a referee to do.

It was a dumb mistake by him but i bet he doesn't do it again, if Kromers got any balls at all he will point it out

The whole team played like crap So I can't single out P-rob, if that lost us the game then maybe but there were so much more that factored into the loss

It's over and done with now anyway, we gotta look towards the panthers and stop cam

If we drop two straight panic mode will begin

And you can add the TD to that list which resulted from that poor throw by Brees which was intercepted and returned to inside the Saints' 5 yard line.

A mental mistake for sure, and there were 1 or 2 other throws that should've been intercepted by the Redskins' defense, especially that one comes to mind which hit both hands of the defender - Orakpo maybe?!

thats what i'm screaming skym, totally agree, i've seen dozens of 12 men on the field in that condition when the refs know hes intentionally heading OB and hes a few yards short, u rarely see the flag. it was a tasteless act by a scumbags ref's few minutes of fame. i know its a rule. but it has no effect ON THAT PLAY what so ever. you see that every weekend, someone is not quite OB.. AND NOTHING CALLED.

right-- happened twice in Pitt-Den game, no call.
The intent of the rule is obvious--we didn't intend to have 12 on the field

Wash actually tried it again later- they were killing the clock on the drive before Drew's first interception but punted with 20 seconds left on the play clock

Re: The jogger, Patrik Robinson

I have to agree with you Mikemike.

I'd rather see the replacement refs call thing strictly by the book rather than see them trying to consider mitigating facts before throwing the flag.

We only have Robinson to blame for that penalty, not the refs nor Washington.

TheOak 09-11-2012 07:22 PM

Robinson should spend all of Wednesday running from center of the 50 to the sideline until he learns how to get off of the field.

Practice makes perfect

I just hope that all of these personal changes with the interm slash interm coaching going on that they don't lose the team. I'm not giving up the Saints it was one lose yes it was at home but we have to move on and think about the Panthers.

SaintsBro 09-12-2012 07:47 AM

Re: The jogger, Patrik Robinson

I think Bobby and Deke were talking about this the other day. If Payton were there, he would just give Robinson one of his patented dirty looks -- like in the poster -- and that would be the end of it as far as Robinson is concerned. But then Payton would have Vitt go yell at Spags, to get his unit off the field quicker -- that's Vitt's job, to do the yelling and chewing out. Kromer is in a really bad spot, because in five weeks he has to go back to being an assistant coach, he doesn't really have seniority in the organization like Vitt does, or the authority, so he can't really yell at Spags or get on his case about it. It's just one of those small things where we miss Payton, and we will have to sorta deal with some of this kinda stuff until Vitt gets back.

Let me tell you something- mental mistakes, mistakes because the system is new and people are still adjusting, are indeed big problems, but defend laziness my friend. Attitude is absolutely the biggest issue for any team. Just my opinion, and the post really wasn't making this the biggest issue the team has. It was identifying PR as the jogger because people were wondering.

That mistake- was huge, huge. Not the only one and in and of itself did not cost us the game, but it was big.

Agreed, it was a mistake and his nonchalant jog should be made an example of for the team as a whole. But certainly just one monkey in the barrel. The surpirsing thing to me is the "get rid of him" comments in the thread. It was a BS penalty anyway. Watch just about any other game and see the exact same thing not called.
