Have we gone from the "2007 patriots" to the "2007 or 2011 giants"?

I'm not talking about 18-1 but perhaps repeating what we did last year. Do I still think we can go 13-3? Yeah. I think it's more realistic for us to go 12-4 and 11-5 at this point but as I look at the schedule and the only games I can think of that we'll probably lose is the packers and broncos away because we don't do well outside. But of course 13-3 isn't my REALISTIC prediction but I wouldn't be surprised. I look at the redskins game and I think deep. I look at the redskins game I think "this was our 2-14 rams game". Here's a new QB whose a heisman winner. That no one has ever seen before. There was zero film on him. Not to mention the redskins have a good defense. And they beat the giants twice last year. I think about things like this and honestly? Unless your NFL team has a super bowl defense like the ravens, 9ers, and the jets when they're not acting like idiots, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if the redskins beat every other team in the NFL if every other team was put in the same position as us with no info on RG3. Obviously the atmosphere has changed since the redskins game. The talking heads now speak of the saints as the team "that has ended before it's begun"(even though it's only week 1). But they also said the same thing about the giants last year. Now I don't think we'll go 10-6 or 9-7 like the giants did because we're a different team from them. But the fact that here we are with a damn good defensive coordinator. Who has a good system that just happens to take forever to get used to. And it was also the same system used that made the giants win the super bowl in 2007 and it stills shows even now every time I see the giants play. And now we're considered at the bottom of the barrel. It won't take multiple years for this defensive scheme to show itself. Just one. Can that translate to a super bowl? I hope so and it's not crazy to think so. Because the same year that Spags was hired, was the same year they went to the super bowl. You could say "oh they had better D players". But you wouldn't know they had better players if you saw them during their many losses. Plus who says we don't have great D players? Curtis Lofton Jabari Greer Malcolm Jenkins Will Smith David Hawthorne Akiem Hicks We have bad players too but the giants in 2011 had some of the worse secondaries and they're superbowl champions. I recently saw Greer on a stat book list that had him ranked as the 2nd greatest cornerback in the league(second only to Darrelle Revis). We have great players. We just need to translate them into a defensive scheme that works(which I have faith that this one does). IT JUST TAKES TIME. And I think that the offense can carry us for a bit until that time comes and we get Vitt back(Especially since the next few teams we play have terrible defenses unlike the skins). WHO DAT! |
