Two questions...
1) Realistically, what do you think our record will be before Coach Vitt comes back? We have KC, @ GB, SD, @ TB before he is eligible to return.
2) Will his return make enough of a difference for this team to get on a big winning streak? |

Re: Two questions...
I'm hoping Vitt can get 7 or 8 wins out of the boys, so we REALLY need to be at least 3-3.
Problem is that I don't see 3-3 if the D keeps playing this bad. KC is more than likely a W, but I can see us losing to the other three teams on that list if the D doesn't show and the offense doesn't play a perfect game... |

Re: Two questions...
At least 3-3, GB is the obvious challenge but they do not look that great this season. Our opponents do not matter we just need to tighten up and play Saints ball.

Re: Two questions...
Green Bay is making mistakes too, I hoping they under estimate us and get cocky... I'm honestly more concerned about San Fransico

Re: Two questions...
I have every positive reason to believe that Joe Vitt's return will make a HUGE visible difference in the quality of the team. He is no Sean Payton, but:
1) he is an EXTREMELY HARDASS, old school football type guy, able to yell and light a fire under people's butts and get a team motivated 2) he is not just a linebackers coach, he is the Assistant Coach, which means seniority, which means players and the other coaches listen to him 3) He is Payton's hand-picked right hand man, ever since Payton has been here, he knows more about "What Would Sean Do?" than probably anybody else in the organization 4) he is known as a "detail" guy -- little things, attention to details, sound fundamentals, technique, getting stuff right BEFORE Sunday rolls around 5) he is a defensive guy, so if Spags so-called "system" is not working by the time Vitt comes back, he can chew Spags out and get in there with the X's and O's and burn the midnight oil in the film room and figure out what the hell to do to fix it, or at least make it serviceable 6) he is a lot more fun at the podium after the game than Kromer 7) he has 30+ years coaching experience and has seen just about every kind of adversity and problem before, including a team losing its head coach. 8) His track record as an interim is not impressive, but that was a decade ago and a different team, and Vitt has tons more experience now, including a ring, and being a BIG part of winning that ring. 9) he's like Payton, has a short fuse and does not tolerate mistakes or slackers, you don't want to get in his doghouse As for big winning streaks, I am trying to combine optimism and realism. We will desperately need wins, but I think with a little luck, if Vitt comes back and we can rip off 2 short streaks of 3-4-5 games each with a couple losses sprinkled in between, then I think we will be back in business. We need wins NOW, to stockpile the losses for when the schedule gets really brutal. |
