BROOKS CITES INJURY
The most interesting comment to come out of the first few days of training camp was Brooks admitting that the shoulder surgery he had in January 2003 may have had an effect on how he mishandled the football on occasions last season.

\"I don’t want to make any excuses for my fumbling, but I was less than six months fully recovered from shoulder surgery,\" Brooks said. \"I take full responsibility for not protecting the ball in a better fashion, but I feel as though the shoulder injury did have an effect. Some guys in this league may not have come back so fast from that type of injury.

\"I have put on about 9 pounds of muscle on my frame because I was able to physically train harder this offseason. I feel great, and I have challenged myself to be the very best this season.\"
Good to hear Brooks talking like this.

TE's looking good!

I\'d rather hear him say\"I fumbled and I\'m taking care of it\" than \"I\'m not making excuses, BUT...\".

Now, I\'m not one to jump on Brooks for his every word, but I want accountability from him. He dropped the ball four times in one game and that was around Dec. 1 if I remember correctly. That\'s more like 10 or 11 months after his surgery.

Bottomline is that when Haslet threatened to sit him it brought in accountability. It\'s a trend I\'ve seen out of Haslet ever since. It has had a positive effect on Craver and I hope it has the same on Brooks.
