Here's a recap from the GerryV show. GerryV wrote the recap, I just cut and pasted it. So..........here ya go!!

Ok here we go..had the pleasure of speaking with Tebucky Jones and Jason Craft and Darren Howrad on the show....

Tebucky Jones: knew he had to work on the tackling issue...worried to much about making the big hit vs securing the tackle...feels stronger this year and more confident..says he understands the eyes will be on him....feels he let the team down last year and plans to really excel this season..also he did lots of work looking at film and seeing what he did wrong...like not getting the proper angle on the play...will study more tape and more extensive work on scouting the opponent....body in great shape..felt the secondary got a bad wrap last year..hinted that the lack of pass rush let some guys hang....he broke down some numbers from last year to show the positive

Review: i felt he was very humble and straighforward...the undertone was obvious..he realizes what went wrong and wants to make good....facing a year that he feelis will establish some "cred" with the fans and mates..was obvious he studied the numbers to show the positive side of the secondary etc.

Jason Craft: Said he's played where fellow secondary guys didn't even speak to eachother...Saints are different all t he DB's help eachother out.....i asked will this continue when it get to "crackin time" as jobs will be fought for?..he answered I'll let you know in about two weeks...said he wants to help this team and feels the talent level is better then what he had heard...not bothered by the new approach the refs will take on the advantage given to the recievers..really thinks he can help the Saints and size is not an issue....says the fans will really see solid play since the defensive line should be improved....will really help his fellow db's.....did say as well as tebucky did that it all starts UPFRONT and we can be as good as we can be if things fall into place with the DEF LINE..say she brings solid play and is willing to play any role the staff wants him to play....more friendly lockeroom with t he Saints...

Review: nice guy who really feels at home with the new teamates...understands the stakes are high and he knows the rap the secondary has taken.....all he wants to do is blend in and be a factor..answered the question without any hesitation at all..

Darren Howard:

Is the Defensive line doing anything to help Jonathan sullivan get ready to play?
ANS: "the tough questions first huh?" ( laughing)...yes we are...you know the comments and conversations players have with a teamate means more then any comment a coach or GM can make to a player...its important that we build a solid supprot base for each o ther on the defensive line.We need to show him by example and support...we will show him how hard we work and what is required to be good in this league.

Has John Pease made an impact and how so? What different this year? Is he demanding etc and what his philosophy?
ANS: Big impact..we move quickly from drill to drill and do alot in a shorter amount of time....wants game speed....really talks to his guys..driven.....he is more of a "Go get the QB!!" get him the way you think you can and whit what you think will work"

Is Pease allowing more freedom""
ANS: he doesn't want to have to make calls from t he sidelines etc..calling stunts etc..he wants out input on alot of things..lets us play..knows what we can and can't do..

Does this mean he will let it rip?
ANS yes he wants us to just get the QB with speed and more react vs read and react..use our speed and athletic ability..doesn't want to slow us down..he really does a good job with us and misses nothing...

You mean he will let you smack the booty??
ANS ( laughing) yes! just get the QB!!! Get him!!.Pressure him and make him worry!

How has Howard Green been playing?
ANS: very well..very hungry..more of a tech guy..blends i n well with us....lots of passion..i really like how he wants to learn and is so focused

What about the "TAG?" being the Franchise Tag and not knowing what the future holds. Can you push this out of your head. Its not a distraction is it?
ANS: no its not..it doesn't matter if youhave a 4 year deal or a one year deal..you just try to make every year your best one.I plan on having a very good year.I will focus on nothing else but this year.I wanted to be in camp and get to work.this is a big year for us.

So the Defensive Line wil attempt to build a healthy peer pressure on the locker room and amonh themselves?
ANS: yes we will. Its important to have that on the entire team but we know we can develop that with all the defensive line folks. We can help set an example for the others.

REVIEW: Very serious and no pauses in his answers.Didn't shy from the Sullivan question..Appears to be very observant about what is needed from the defensive line this year.
Gracious guest and well versed answers.Totally into preparation and loves the new atmosphere created by John Pease.

Gumbo,

Think Howard has given any indication outwardly or \"between the lines\" that he would be back next year?

Anyone wonder if he has seen the drafting of Will Smith as the writing on the wall as to his future with the team?

vulture-

If I were Darren Howard, I would have in the back of my mind that I could be traded. With Will Smith being drafted it COULD be the end of Howard as a Saint next year.

On the other hand, if Howard stays healthy, something he\'s had trouble doing, he could have a monster year and someone else could be the odd man out.

Or, the Saints might elect to keep all 3 for another year if they have the cap room.

My personal opinion is Howard will be traded if Smith shows he can handle the job.

In four years, he\'s only missed 8 games, and all 8 were last year. So suddenly he has trouble staying healthy? Players get injured.
I will agree, this acquisition of Smith may push Howard out of a job in NO, and that makes me very sad.

I like Darrin also but if Smith pushes him out of a job its because Will Smith is woopin arse and taking names.

For whatever reason Howard leaves the Saints, The Saints have lost there best Defensive End. There is no way Smith or Grant could touch Howard\'s ability.

Well, if you believe Haslett\'s hype (which is a VERY dangerous thing to do IMO), then you can never have enough d-line talent. That makes it seem that Howard isn\'t going anywhere. Will Smith is not, at this point in his career, an every down DE. He\'s a pass rush specialist. The Saints would be real dumb to dump Howard before they know what Smith is truly capable of. Further, you\'ve got Pat Swilling syndrome. I\'m sure Smith will have a pretty good year in 04. You would too if you had Grant, Howard, and Rodgers next to you.

This is a tough situation, If Will Smith does bad then you have wasted a 1st rounder but then again he fits well as a second stringer. If Smith does great, you can\'t keep 3 top Defensive Ends on a team, there is on two spots, Then again, you will have alot of cap room available when you trade one.

I see Smith doing really well, which means somebody has to go.

Tap those brakes just a hair, Smith is pretty good against the run. I\'ll give you three guesses as to who he was compared to going into the draft, but you\'ll only need one.

If I remember correctly he was compared to Darren Howard, only a bit better vs the run?
