this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I've been saying it from the beginning. What puzzles me is some of the experts like Ditka, and Cowher, and Gruden, and Jimmy Johnson, not seeing this coming after actually BEING a head coach. Dumb!...

Re: So what made everyone think we would be ok this season without coach?
What made me think everything would be Ok without a head coach was I thought the players/game had evolved to the level of being on auto-pilot and coaches were merely strategists who's importance during the week's practices/game planning did not necessarily translate onto the sidelines game day.
I was wrong. I was dead wrong. I won't be wrong about this ever again. The Head Coach on the sidelines today is just as important as back in the days of Vince Lombardi, Bo Schembechler, Woody Hayes, Don Shula, Tom Landry, Bud Grant, Chuck Knoll, Paul Brown, Bill Walsh, Joe Gibbs ... |

Because I thought Drew would be calling more audibles at the line and get the offense rolling. Also thought Spags could light a fire around this defense.
Wrong and wrong. |

There was plenty to be optimistic about. Carmichael's play calling success last season, Spags history as a DC, a all world quarterback, etc.
A lot of us are in the same boat. Oh well... obviously my expectations are dampened significantly, but it was better to look forward to the season and an optimistic approach rather than be a grouch ball calling it a season before it even started. |

I'm shocked...
I really thought we'd win the easy game(the last 3) and split the harder ones. I really thought 11-5 and 12-4 was very possible. |

Re: So what made everyone think we would be ok this season without coach?
We have a problem with every unit just about on the team...top to bottom.
OLine- Terrible WR- Terrible...cant catch all of a sudden, Colston playing with one foot cause Morgan blows so bad that Colston with one foot > Morgan QB- Cant make a throw because O Line CANNOT block anyone. RBs- Theyre ok when the get the ball DLINE- What a joke... LBs- Dline makes them look worse than maybe they really are. (three 1st round picks) CBs- Nice to have Greer back. Robinson (1st round pick) might not be a back up on other teams with a C average Defense Safety- HAHAHAHAHAHA, Jenkins (1st round pick) wouldnt start anywhere else. COACHING STAFF- WOW!! Kromer, who many said was by far the best man for the job, inherits a superbowl caliber team and is 0-3 vs team who now only have 1 win for the season. He is pathetic. He looks scared $h!tless when the camera shows his face. |

Re: So what made everyone think we would be ok this season without coach?
Actually Drew is calling more audibles at the line. It appears to me he doesn't trust Carmichael enough and Carmichael is afraid to call him out for the audibles he is making. One I remember in the second half he changed to a run play and PT lost 2 yards because there were 6 guys at the LOS.
