Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; surprised to see no one mentioned the 07 season, which this season feels a lot like to me. drew brees wasnt very good to start that season, either.... but, we started off 0-4 that year. that was the year deuce ...

but, we started off 0-4 that year. that was the year deuce blew out his knee against the titans on monday night. but, we did turn it around and win four in a row to even it out at 4-4. so, i certainly think this team is capable of turning the season around after a slow start. sure, its a little different w/o sean payton on the sidelines, but, the man behind center was there to turn it around for us then, i believe he could do it again!

after that 4-4 start, we didnt really play much better than .500 ball to finish the season, but, we did have a shot at the playoffs at the end of the season.

everyone knows our offense can play better. the defense? well, lets just hope spags system gets learned a little quicker and who knows!? who dat!?

There's about as much of a chance of us making the playoffs as us beating the best team in football with the best QB of all time at the helm. Could it? Should it? Would it ? Yes it can !

Why wasn't "DUH" an option in this poll?

I hope not, because we are going to be 0-4.

Green Bay is coming off of a short week, and that game Monday night was a hard-hitting one. I know our chances are slim, but I could see us winning this game. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

I didn't see "it's already over" on the poll, so I didn't vote. Have you seen this defense?!?!

Most of us were looking at this game as our 1st loss,
and that was with us playing at a high level.
Way too much disarray when we show up on Sunday.
I'll be turning flips on a bad knee if they pull this one off,
but I'm not holding out much hope. If they do pull it off,
a win in Lambeau may be just the thing to get a 10 straight streak started.

Whether we go 0-4 or 1-3, I've already stopped expecting a playoff run this season. If we sneak in, make a miraculous turnaround, that's fantastic ... but I'm gonna watch the Saints all season either way, like I always have.

Realistically, I'd like to see some younger players start to work their way onto the field. It's obvious - especially on defense - that some of the old hands ain't getting it done. Might as well let some of the young guys start taking their lumps.

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

If you go 0 - 4 (which is highly likely I think) you have to win 4 in a row just to get back to even. And your defense this year has not convinced me that they can go on a run to win 4 in a row. It's a long, long way to dig out to get back to even. I think you are looking at 2013 draft picks if you lose. You didn't trade away your 2013 1st and 2nd picks did you?

I think you can have a good 2013. All the coaches and players back. A high 1st and a high 2nd in the draft. Use them both on defense.

Re: Is the Saints season over if they fall to 0-4?

Well just since people keep bringing it up -- winning at Lambeau is not as difficult or impossible as people think,in fact the Lambeau thing is kinda over rated as a mystique or hype thing. Somebody had looked up the real numbers when we played them last year, their home record is good but actually not that intimidating or super impressive -- somebody here had the numbers (can't remember who), and the total won/loss numbers on Lambeau field, that makes it look like such a scary place to play, all the legends and hype are based on YEARS of dominance in the '60s and '90s and not really relevant to how the Pack has actually played in their home field in the last few years. Remember the Super Bowl year they squeaked into the playoffs at 9-7 (I believe) and won it all ON THE ROAD. Not at Lambeau. Lambeau and the "frozen tundra" had nothing to do with their Super Bowl year!

You can throw in the towel over the D if you want to, or start picking next year's draft picks if you feel like it -- but going into Lambeau itself is nothing to be afraid of or intimidated by or chalk it up as an automatic loss.
