Reggie Bush , Mark Ingram Conversation
After a good hour of football talk with some very sharp minds we got to a topic that was mind bottling to me.
Are we running the football Incorrectly ? Are Our Backs Not Exploding through the hole properly ? Are our Gaps During Trap , Pulling and Running Plays too shallow leading to a cluttered and less effective running game ? Reggie Bush During His Time In College was The Greatest HB of all time. Why did his production go down so drastically in N.O ( Of Coarse Fewer Carries but Yards Per Attempt Ect .. ) One can say he was a bust but why is he all the sudden durable and explosive in Miami ? The same can be said for Heisman Winner Mark Ingram ... Top of the Line RB in College Goes to New Orleans and Boom ! 2 to 3 yard Averages ... What gives ? |

No idea but if you figure it out, tell the coaching staff.
Personally, I think it really has something to do with never getting into a groove because they are in the game then out. In a play or two, then out. Maybe not...hell I don't know. |

Re: Reggie Bush , Mark Ingram Conversation
Ingram is a good RB. He had the exact same stats as Deuce in the SEC, believe me, it's not a talent thing. Before he got hurt you could see some real flashes of him pushing his way into the endzone and jumping over people. He seems to have lost that level of energy and I don't blame him since all they give him are dive runs. They know it's coming, we know it's coming so he gets his 2-3 yards and he's off the field. Give the man a little space and he can do some damage.

I am pretty much dumb founded by all of this too. I do agree though that the running back by committee thing is not really all that great. Gotta let guys get into a grove. I still want to see what Ingram can do with 25 carries in a game. I really think he would surprise a lot of people.

Yes whe run the ball incorrectly and really misuse the backs we have. Opposing defenses knows what play is coming depending on what back we have in. Ingram = inside run, Sproles = outside, Thomas = Screen. Our backs are competent football players but its hard to produce when you are never allowed to get into a rythm getting swiched in and out every damn play.

Re: Reggie Bush , Mark Ingram Conversation
We have the best running back corps in the league.
We have the most predictable running back corps in the league. If our coaches can't see that, then we need help in the coaching position, not the running back position. PERIOD Alaska |

Re: Reggie Bush , Mark Ingram Conversation
Ingram is a guy that needs 20 carries a game, unles your name is Pierre Thomas (beast) that won't happen in our offense

Re: Reggie Bush , Mark Ingram Conversation
I do wonder if the fact that Kromer is in charge of the running game, and him being given the interim-interim HC job as well, along with coaching of the O-line... has had an affect on the effectiveness of the running game this season.
Maybe he has less time to game-plan the running game for the upcoming games because he has so many more responsibilities with the HC position?! |
