I can actually see us winning in some sort of twisted way. But do I think this is the beginning of the turn around? No. The players said so at the beginning of the season. They said they didn't want to go all the way without Payton.

Here is what really scares me- are we back to being an 8-8 team? Can our defense actually improve enough this year to go into next season being somewhat respectful. Last time I remember looking like this Gary Gibbs was our D coord. and save 06 we were an average team.

I hope we turn it around starting this week, but the Skins, Panties, and Chefs are not as good as GB. We look like warmed over ****, and where last year we were a second half team- this year, well you all watch the games.
Did you have confidence that we would Beat Seattle in the play offs? Tampa bay in regular season? Rams Regular season?... We all did to, see how that turned out.

Sh1t can happen, we are hoping it happens this week.

That is an interesting and valid point ... these guys feel Payton was given the shaft as much as the rest of us and being so close to the situation, would undoubtedly not feel right about being successful without Payton. It makes me think there's a huge "Wait 'til next year" thing going on inside their heads ... seriously.

Where did they say that? I don't remember hearing anyone on the team say anything about how they didn't want to go all the way without Payton, at the beginning of the season.

Re: Inviting all WhoDats to call me nuts, but...

The Saints talent level is the same or better than last year. Our problems are in execution, primarily on defense. If players get on the same page and start playing like they know how to play, then we can beat any team in the NFL. The Saints aren't a "bad team" they are a good team that is playing badly. The difference being that a "bad team" couldn't win many games even at the best of their ability. To be honest, looking strictly at the play-calling it has been pretty good, aside from being afraid to run the ball for some reason. Even the defenses LOOK like the right coverage for the situations, but the players simply aren't Doing Their Jobs, like SP asked. If they do, then we will win games despite the opponent, unlike some teams which have to hope for their opponents to play badly to have a chance.

I like what alexonfyre said, and I'm traditionally one of the "gloomy" posters around here. There's no reason we can't beat GB if we play up to our potential, we simply haven't done that yet.

We're 0-3, no changing that, and mathematically we can go 0-16, or 13-3, or anywhere in between. The team's gotta take the field either way, and frankly improvements must be made sometime. Might as well HOPE it's this week ...
