Cadet Could be the solution to our offensive woes
Darren Sproles , Pierre Thomas , Travaris Cadet ...
In terms of offensive explosion those are our 3 most valuable backs. When these backs have 3 or more explosive plays respectively in a game , we are unbeaten. Everyone in the NFL knows this much ... Sproles - Pass / Screen Thomas - Run / Screen Ingram - Run / Run Lol Ivory - Run / Run ( even funnier ) Being mindful of the Screen , They know whats going down 70% of the Time. It's hard to beat someone when they know when and where the punches are coming. Here's a game changer Cadet - Run / Pass / Screen and Very Explosive . There is no key for when Cadet is in the game ... We are struggling on 3rd down because of what we fail to get accomplished on 1st and 2nd. If we take away the defenses ability to predict our plays our chances for more yardage on 1st and 2nd go up drastically thus creating a more manageable 3rd down. Which leads to Extended drives , Ect ... What'dya say ? I think Cadet is too good for us to not have put in once in our 0-3 season so far ... |

Re: Cadet Could be the solution to our offensive woes
Let's be real here... Cadet hasn't played a single down yet in games that matter. I love the guy, don't get me wrong... but I say let's just wait until Sean is back to integrate the guy fully. Cadet isn't going to solve any problems on 3rd down that we don't already have.

I've gotta say otherwise ... He is clearly a playmaker to say he won't have any effect on anything we have done is crazy.

A playmaker against the backup defense in the preseason. To say that we can make Cadet do what Sproles and Pierre can't do is crazy.

Why would you want to start a rookie over a veteran?

Re: Cadet Could be the solution to our offensive woes
Even in preseason Cadet's numbers were not really that spectacular. He's better as a receiver or yards after catch guy. Which is precisely what they're about to do with him, but not yet. People act like Cadet is this Hall of Fame-ready beast, but his actual rushing yardage in terms of per carry was nothing special to write home about. Remember how people thought Joe Morgan was gonna be so great, and look how he turned out when he was out there with the 1's. Cadet is really, really raw and inexperienced.
This is the deal.I'm oversimplifying, but this is basically what it is. The problem with the offense is the FIRST first down. That's ALL the problem is. Once the Saints get that FIRST first down after getting the ball, they pretty much drive down the rest of the field and score. I forget the actual stat, but it's pretty shocking. IF they get a FIRST first down, the other first downs come easy, the drive is going, it's off to the races -- and it ends up being points more times than it's not. So pretty much all the offense needs to do, to stop the 3 and out's, is get that FIRST first down. That's more of a playcalling and execution issue than a question of the talent of who's out there currently. |

Re: Cadet Could be the solution to our offensive woes
I get your point SaintsBro, Cadet is raw, extremely raw. On the other hand, we are struggling getting that 1st down and the score card says we are 0-3. It's not working. It's not broken but it stalls and hard to get going again. I say give him a shot. At least at KO returns because Sproles is getting gunned down. It was a point Chargers fans brought up and you can see that he does not have any real speed to outrun anybody and he will go down with defenders pursuing, he has to because of his size. Give Cadet a shot at it. Our season is going in the tank fast and unless changes are made it will continue.

The point is to be unpredictable and use our talent ... Because the way we are conducting ourselves is obviously working for us ( sarcasm )

Re: Cadet Could be the solution to our offensive woes
Yeah I think if anything, he'll be in & WR... He was sure handed in preseason, they're giving him reps at the position, Morgan has been inconsistent at best, and the let Camarillo go.
To me, all signs point to that. At least before the season is out. |
