Packers | McKenzie Has No Plans of Returning - from www.KFFL.com
Sat, 7 Aug 2004 01:37:36 -0700 ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports Green Bay Packers holdout CB Mike McKenzie has no intention to return to the Packers and remains steadfast in his desire to be traded. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said he spoke with Packers head coach Mike Sherman Wednesday, Aug. 4, and Sherman said they'd welcome him back. However, Rosenhaus said he did not see any scenario where McKenzie would return to the Packers. "No, none at all," Rosenhaus said. "He's pretty well dug in." Rosenhaus said the Packers are talking to a few teams about possibly trading him and they are willing to at the right price. McKenzie has three years remaining on a five-year, $17 million contract extension. I'm not sure we can rule out a trade for this guy. If he refuses to go back to the Packers, you never know what they might take to get rid of him. Of course he does come with some baggage, namely, attitude, but as long as he can use it to our advantage, I say do the deal. |

What is his problem with the Packers anyway? I always suspected it was $$$ but he is in the 3rd year of a 5 year extension which tells me the Pack gave him a raise already in his career.

It would be folly to give up a defensive lineman OR a second round pick for this clown. The Saints will do neither one. He\'s not as good as he wants people to believe and the Saints have made it known that they want professionalism and a \"team\" philosophy. This guy doesn\'t represent either of these qualities.
I doubt that the Saints team or coaches could do much to correct his attitude. I\'m no football player but if Brett Favre calls me out I would respond. My point is, the Saints don\'t have a Brett Favre. The Saints have made it a point to get rid of problem players and this guy has Eddie Kennison written all over him. |

If you\'re one of the folks who want McKenzie, this is good news. Green Bay will give in at some point. It\'s in their best interest. That is if McKenzie doesn\'t give in first.
I say something will happen in the next 3 weeks. Just my opinion. |

I agree Gumbo. I think McKenzie is dead set on not returning to the Packers, someone obviously peed in his wheaties. I think the Saint\'s are just waiting the Packers out and will get him for the right price.
