this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; In the game that I watched, we couldn't run the ball. We tried. We couldn't. I think Duece Ingram had the longest run of the day...2 yards. Our offensive like sucks!...

Re: RUN THE DARN BALL
Will try to apply constructive criticism here.
It's not the RB effort or the blocking that is problem, though those areas could certainly be better. And it's not just the lack of running, it's how we are running the ball that is the problem. Seemingly the only running play in our playbook is slamming the running back between the tackles to see what happens . Where are the pulling guards, cutbacks, sweeps, pitches, tosses, draws, pump-fake draw, counters, direct snap, reverse, fake reverse, qb draw, bootleg, swing pass to the RB in motion, fullback run? The running game is supposed to be a creative force and instead we are making it look like a chore, like taking out the garbage. The only real sucess we had running today was the Sproles draw for about 9 yards. The rest was 2 yards and a cloud of dust, at best. We have the talent and Aikman was right about one thing ... Ingram isn't getting a fair shake and has a lot more talent than we can see because his carries are so predictable ... it's a straight run up the middle behind a fullback almost everytime he comes in the game . Also our play-action fakes are a joke, Brees and company are not selling it at all. Making us even more one-dimensional than we already are. I hope they can fix this dimension of the offense but it will probably take a bye week to correct it. |

Re: RUN THE DARN BALL
Thank you, how can you scream run the damn ball when our o-line cannot create holes for our backs to run through. I mean zero blocking up front, its so damn frustrating and makes us 1 dementional hence the 450 yards brees racked up in passing.

Re: RUN THE DARN BALL
It didn't matter who ran the ball. One second after the handoff there were 9 Packers in the RB's face.
James Brown in his prime couldn't run behind this line. We have Evans and Grubbs and NO ONE ELSE. Thomas - 1.4 YPC Ingram - 2.1 YPC Thats also better than what they averaged last week. The problem is not our running backs. DLP - Journeyman Strief - Back-up Bushrod - Mediocre |
