Black & Gold Scrimmage time

The Saints are in Hammond, La. for the Black & Gold Scrimmage at Southeastern Louisiana University's Strawberry Stadium. After individual drills and 7-on-7 work, the Saints will have three 15-play drives to conclude the evening.

The Black & Gold is traditionally the first milepost for the club in their preseason preparations. For the first time in camp., the team will live tackle during the three drives and Coach Jim Haslett and his staff will evaluate several players and key position battles.

The scrimmage is the culmination of a full day in Hammond as Saints fans from all over the New Orleans area have converged on SLU for the annual event. Several events were held all day long on the campus as the Saints returned to their former training camp home in 1986-87.

Fans in the Gulf South can watch the scrimmage on Cox Sports Television. Coverage of the event can also be heard on WWL 870-AM.

NewOrleansSaints.com will have full coverage of the event during the evening along with audio comments from Coach Jim Haslett and his staff.

After tonight's scrimmage, the team is off on Sunday and will return to work on Monday morning at 9 am at the Metairie facility. The practice is open to the public.
