Is it just me?
I didn't get to watch the majority of the fourth quarter, because I had to go to work. I did keep up with the play-by-play until I got there and could finally get the radio tuned in to the station. Here's my beef. After we kicked the field goal and went up 27-21, and then forced Green Bay to punt, why in the name of all that is holy, did we PASS THE BALL on three straight plays instead of trying a run or two to kill some time off the clock?! I know we weren't doing much on the ground, but they were going to be looking for the pass since Brees was carving them up all game long. Was there something that I missed by not actually being able to see the game? All I know is that it only took roughly 15 seconds off the clock and gave Green Bay great field position. I honestly won't blame Hartley for not hitting the field goal, but can someone explain what actually happened so that I don't have this urge to bludgeon Pete Carmichael with his own playbook?

Re: Is it just me?
Getting into position to kick the field goal was off of passing plays that the recievers went out of bounds stopping the clock also. Missing Sean with game management.

Re: Is it just me?
Because that's what Sean Payton would have done. When do we ever sit on any lead? The Saints are a nasty go for the juggler team. The offensive gameplan for running looked like poooop and had we just run the ball 3 and out, I don't think people would have been happy with that.
I thought the same thing as you until I realized that unless the Saints have the run game established, they "go for it" throwing the ball late in games, even with an ubalanced lead. I've just come to accept this about the Saints as "this is how we roll." |

Re: Is it just me?
Agreed, sticking with the passing game was the only aspect working. They just needed to stay in bounds. Had Hartley been able to get past himself and make it, Rogers would have had no time to come-back. They had to run off more than 2 minutes when he missed.
