Re: Hope Springs Eternal (Even @ 0-4)
Here are some comparisons between that '92 Charger team and the Saints of '12 through the first four games:
- Net Points: -66 versus -20 - Net Turnovers: -5 versus 0 - Sacks: 6 versus 6 - Sacks Given Up: 12 versus 9 - Defensive Interceptions: 4 versus 2 - Offensive Interceptions: 11 versus 5 - Kickers: Carney 7 of 9 versus Hartley 6 of 8 Coincidentally, they both had Week 6 Bye Weeks. You could have written off those '92 Chargers after a shutout loss to the Oilers in Week 4 and their chances looked far worse than us at this point due to their seeming inability to score. Conversely, we seemingly have an inability to stop opposing offenses but I believe in the team and things will turn around. Brees is *WAY* below the completion percentage of the last two years. He is in fact below 60% (110 of 191 ~ 58%). I imagine that he will return to form and the law of averages can only help us. Do not write these Saints off just yet. We are going to turn the corner this Sunday. As you can see from SaintFan's picture, the Fat Lady is not singing. SDSaint |

Re: Hope Springs Eternal (Even @ 0-4)
Even at 0-4 I am not giving up just yet. I will not give up until the Saints are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. If that happens, then it's time to screw up some other teams season.
What I do like is Spags is at least tinkering with the defense, and we all know Brees will eventually snap out of his funk. Of course a lot of Brees' funk has a lot to do with the people catching passes, I am certain that will get cleaned up. In a nut shell, it is not impossible to overcome an 0-4 start, or even 0-5 if the Saints lose on Sunday Night. Realistically it is over right now as far as the playoffs go. Injuries will start to mount as the season moves forward, digging out of this hole is a bit much, however the Saints do possess enough talent to pull it off. It would not surprise me to see them go on a 8 or 9 game winning streak. |

That post gives a little bit of hope, SDSaint! Thanks a lot for that! And the last thing dying is hope, right?
To everybody going to the game: Cheer as loud as you can, the team needs that support! |
