Week 5 Chargers vs Saints discussion
How do we match against the Chargers this week at home in the dome?
Their opponents thus far: they are 3-1 Oakland W Tennessee W Atlanta L Kansas City W Looks like a stingy defense allowing an average of 80 yards per game rushing, and 237 passing, and 18 points per game. Their offense is putting down 218 ave passing, 80 rushing, and 25 points per game. Atlanta kept them to just 3 points and Atlanta has been averaging 24 points per game allowed with out the SD game. Where are the match up problems for both offense and defense? |

How about this Question:
Does Meachem have a break out game against us? |

Re: Week 5 Chargers vs Saints discussion
After the first two weeks I started getting this eerie feeling we were back in 2007, now I am assured of it. After a close loss in GB an 0-4 saints team will play a 3 win west coast team. My prediction is we will see the same result a huge win that give us the confidence needed to go on a 4 game winning streak.
Yes I do know we lost to Carolina by three before playing Seattle and this team is much better than the 07 team, but the similarities are striking. |

Re: Week 5 Chargers vs Saints discussion
I think we win this one; the offense looked improved last game and the defense seems to be getting the scheme...
I don't think it'll be all that close either... |

Re: Week 5 Chargers vs Saints discussion
I'm going into this expecting a wild shootout. I think this game is not so much a question of matchups as it is, who makes mistakes. One false move by the Saints' Offense, one tiny slip-up, and we are suddenly going to be down by a touchdown, and will stay down by 7 the entire rest of the game until the Chargers make a mistake of their own. Do the Chargers make a lot of mistakes? I don't know. Especially on O. We need to face an offense that punts every once in a while, by their own doing, without needing to be actually stopped, if we want to have ANY shot to win a game right now.
It seems from looking at the box score like SD pretty much rolled all over Kansas City's defense, at will, and only the occasional holding call or fumble or other mistake would slow them down. Unlike our game against the Chiefs, the Chargers kept the pedal to the metal all through the game and were scoring almost at will the entire time, getting a big lead early and then adding more points to it until late into the 4th. So we will need to play very good mistake-free football for all 4 quarters to win this. |
