Will Beating an 0-4 Team Make Chargers Fans Believe?

There still is doubt from San Diego Chargers fans. We are beating teams that we should and beating them handily. That has not been enough to get some to believe in the Norv Turner led team. Beating the Raiders, Chiefs and Titans have proved nothing to these fans, but will beating an 0-4 Saints team bring a glimmer of life?

The Saints come into the game with a reputation of being an elite team. Their season has started out UGLY, but they have the potential to be great. Their offense has weapons all over the field and can still put up a lot of points on the board. After beating a team with a reputation, but without a record, make people believe? OR will people say that we just beat a team that has no wins this season.

When we beat the Saints, they will be the best team that we have beaten this season, despite their record. The Raiders are a mess! The Chiefs have a train wreck at quarterback and the Titans are still a young team trying to get the train on the tracks.

The Saints will offer up another test for the Chargers defense. The Falcons have similar talent on their offense and they ripped up the Chargers defense. Let’s see if we learned anything from that beating. Beating the winless Saints should give the team more respect.

Will you start to believe after we beat the Saints?

I honestly don't think they're going to beat the Saints, so the answer would be, "No".

Despite your record the Saints aren't slouches...

Between the lack of Championships sense 1963 (Pre Super Bowl Era) a potential move to LA seeming more and more likely, and the age of the team as a whole... The fan base is in Super Bowl or bust mode... there isn't time to build, fans have been patient for 49 years, or there entire life... whichever is smaller...

When a fan base think like this... beating percived bad teams dons't mean a thing... just doing what the team is supsed to do. The game that mattered was ATL and they thrashed us... The games that matter are against the percived elite teams and nothing else.

If the Chargers win (I expect a hard fought game and a well earned W for whoever gets it, it isn't a given) I don't think it will be a big confidence booster. I think that the Saints are a better team then there record shows... and the Superdome is always a tough place to play and a win would be great. Still, while I think the Saints are better then there record they aren't the elite team test that the fans want to see past. I mean no dissrespect by that... and the Giant's weren't considered elite for most of last season and were a few plays away from not being in the playoffs...

There are going to be fans that see an 0-5 team (Again in the event of a win) and say it is meaningless... but I think most who follow the league a bit realize the Saints are resepctable, but I don't think it would be a massive confidence boost a win over ATL would have been, or over the Ravens could be down the stretch. I mean no dissrespect by this... but when a team is in Super Bowl or bust mode confidence only comes from beating the best of the league... Saints don't look like that at this point... but things can change quickly in the NFL and I would give you guys a shot against anyone in the playoffs if you could claw back from the bad start.

Chargers Fan: I come in peace, I am not here to flame or troll just to learn about your team.

The Saints are not as bad as their record, and Atlanta is not is good as their record which is why Chargers fans are in limbo. I suspect that the perception of a move to LA has some fans very angry, and fans that are angry at the owner are not going to be satisfied regardless of your record at the end of the year.... until the move is off of the table.

Even if you won the Super Bowl this year it would be tainted by the probability of a move.

This comes from a fan of a team that almost moved to frikken San Antonio. I am a New Orleans Saints fan, I doubt I would watch football at all if they became the San Antonio Saints, and I know I wouldn't watch football if they became the San Antonio Armadillos.

As ugly as the loss to Atlanta was, they're not even an AFC team. A win is a win but wins against division rivalries are what matters the most.

As for fans beliefs, bringing back Norv and AJ was an extremely unpopular decision. Most of us believe that we can clinch the division but we want a Super Bowl. My biggest concern is that we'll win the division and that alone will be enough for Norv to get a contract extension.

I didn't see the game. Did Atlanta look that good or did the Chargers keep shooting themselves in the foot?
