Re: Spags were is Martez Wilson ????
Shanle can't tackle, he can't cover and he can't rush. The best place for Shanle is on the bench. That is where he can do the most good. I agree. Put Wilson in, take Shanle out.

So seriously folks, if Scott Shanle is the best that our FO can bring in for three years, and he's been on the team for six, then its time for them to take a long look in the mirror for where the problems are |
Re: Spags were is Martez Wilson ????
Martez Wilson is a late 3rd round draft pick that's been hyped since the day he was drafted as some sort of super hero. Maybe he just isn't that good.

I remember a player (or coach) 2 years ago comment that a lot of times Shanle will see someone out of position on a play and runs to where the broken assignment is, often too late. People mistake that as Shanle was slow and out of position when in fact he knew the other player blew his assignment and tried to help out, but couldn't get there in time. Shanle may be the smartest player we have on defense. |
Re: Spags were is Martez Wilson ????
Martez is focused on learning to play DE... and he'll do a great job in given time. When our coaches are back next season things will get a lot better. He played MLB in college and now he's a DE... asking him to abandon that and now play WLB wouldn't solve a damn thing. He'd be completely lost. Let's just let the kid develop where he is and I have faith that he'll be a damn fine pass-rushing DE in the near future.

The problem is that he was barely given a chance to play last year, and this year he had to learn a new system AND switch positions. I'd hoped it would work out a little better, but I am not surprised he's taking slow to it. At this point though, his speed needs to be on the field regardless of how out of position he may be. There is nothing to lose by trying. |
