Left tackle Wayne Gandy quietly establishes himself as a locker room presence following Turley's departure Monday, August 09, 2004 By Jeff Eisenberg Staff writer Moving quickly to rid themselves of Kyle Turley, by most accounts a cancerous presence throughout his five-year tenure in New Orleans, the Saints jettisoned the volatile All-Pro left tackle to St. Louis last spring. But not before they found the antidote for what ailed them. Wayne Gandy, a soft-spoken 11-year veteran who the Saints plucked from Pittsburgh two days before pulling the trigger on the trade with the Rams, has proved to be Turley's equal on the field, and a much better fit off it.
