Yeah that's kinda what I'm thinking as well. It almost sounds to me like Brees read about Gregg Williams going to the Rams game in the paper, and then decided to make Goodell jump through some hoops for him. I don't think any of this happens if it weren't for what the league did with letting Gregg Williams back and planting it in the media the way they did, then Vilma's response to it on Twitter, the Tweets after the Packers/Seahawks debacle, etc.

This is good news, better news would be "Sean Payton back on the Saint's sideline!". But we will not see that headline this year I guess. Would be great if we could note down the first win for this season. It is really messed up, such a bad start!

Guys, go win on Sunday! And Drew Brees go for another record!!! Hope I can make it and get up to see the game. In Germany it is 2 am by that time....

I agree with saintfan. I hope they don't show up.
I saw the NFL Network report this morning (6:30 Am about), and it was said that Brees requested to goodell ( I spell his name with a lower case leter on purpose) that Sean P. is there Sun night.
Why show up? Brees breakinbg this record is easy to do. Sean P. can see same from tv at his house. Being there is like eating shet, groveling to goodell.
Also, for the best of the Saints ...if Sean P. is there and the Saints just happen to win this game, then others-media, fans, teams will say Sean P. coached the team.
Once again, the bounty thing on the Saints part was jsut plain stupid. It was a nasty way of saying what their contracts say which is X dollars in incentives of sacks, tackles, runs, etc. Same thing.
Yeah, other teams are still doing this. See post about Reggie Bush having the NY Jets say they were going after him.
However, the punishment here does not fit. You have conVicked felons in the NFL. Fine and dandy that seems.

The request was a ploy by Brees actually hoping the NFL would say no which would have given the players and coaches more stroke considering last week they allowed Gregg Williams to go to the lambs game. But they do deserve to be at the game since they are the reasons Drew has this opportunity to set the record.
