Bump & Run rule
I've been hearing some noise about the bump & run rule this year. Has anyone else heard anything about this? Referees are actually going around to the different training camps, and showing the players what kind of things they will be calling this year. The rule is this: the defensive back is only allowed to touch the WR once within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage, instead of numerous times. It is actually an old rule that they are just going to be enforcing alot more this year, because of the the way last years playoff games were played, ie: Eagles vs. Panthers, and Pats vs. Colts.
This will open up things alot for the WR's on our team, but increase the vulnerability of our CB's. Look for alot more points to be scored this year, bet the over. |

Bump & Run rule
We\'ve all heard that \"noise\" (that\'s the right word for it).
Teams have to somewhat adjust to that rule, so it\'s a good idea to have NFL refs come in and show the CBs exactly what they will tolerate and what will earn a penalty. Defensive backs coaches will have a close eye on pre-season games and how the rule is enforced there. I\'m not sure that the rule itself will have a big impact - maybe that CBs will play less aggressively, give a cushion and don\'t bump the receiver at all on more plays this year. What I wouldn\'t want is for the pass interference rule to be affected as well. It\'s scewed enough as it is, I don\'t want every involuntary tangle leading to a new first down. |
