Will some other team see his ability as being starter-worthy and roll the dice on him? Secondly, is Chase really starting QB material in this league...or better yet...perceived as starting material by this organization? Is it possible that this is the perfect role for him, as it appears to be for someone like David Carr...and if it came down to it and Drew was gone, would they go out and draft or acquire what they consider to be a #1 rated signal caller? |

Re: Drew Brees' record-breaking TD pass was a play Chase Daniel knew would work
I'd love it for Chase if he were to get in a Matt Flynn type situation, i.e., he comes in at the end of the season to rest Drew (since we'll have already locked up the playoff spot by then *fingers crossed*) and he has one of those ridiculous games where he just flat out goes off, and then gets an equally ridiculous offer based on his play in that one game. I mean really, the guys got a SB ring, he's been backing up one of the all time greats, he deserves a shot somewhere to show what he can do.

We would have to Lock up the NFC South and HAVE to beat Atlanta twice, or some teams will have to go downhill really quick for us to lock anything up. |

Re: Drew Brees' record-breaking TD pass was a play Chase Daniel knew would work
Chase understands his role, and he is perfect for this team as he is presently being utilized. If this organization thought Chase was starting material, we wouldn't keep bringing in 2-3 QB's for preseason.
They bring in and try out new QB's because they are looking for the next Drew Brees, not another Chase Daniels. Chase has a SB ring because he was part of the team, much like Shanle. "Backing up" essentially means he watched Drew. He has had chances to "light it up" in preseason and doesn't. He has been in two regular season games and has yet to WOW anyone enough to come after him. I am in no way saying he is bad at all, I am just saying he has yet to make the most of his opportunities. Think about this when you think starting QB for the Saints. With the rest of our season being a must win fest... What are our chances with Drew? What are our chances if Chase is starting? Chase also likes to bolt under pressure. Not a good thing, look at Vick's injuries, RGIII concussion this week.. We need a passer. The Brady and Rogers argument could be used but how many of those arguments are out there? |

No one knows how good Chase is because we don't show our hand on anything. Chase never gets the chance to sling the ball. His job is to hand the ball off.

I freak out screaming when he does it of course, but I kinda DIG that Chase has that spooked-horse, headless chicken running move, like Alex Smith does. If (GOD FORBID) Chase ever comes in and has to (GOD FORBID) win a game, with (GOD FORBID) something important on the line, all bets are off, and NOBODY will be expecting that (GOD FORBID) desperate crazy running up the middle thing that Chase and Alex Smith does. Go back to pass, pump it around, tuck and run with it, aim for that big green patch in the middle, slide boy, slide, get down! He will move some chains with that, against far better players than him, I guarantee it. That's exactly the way Alex Smith does it -- it's kind of a sissy move, an un-manly, ugly, chickensh**, half-assed way to get a cheap first down... it almost feels like cheating, sort of, but it WORKS! And it drives opposing fans absolutely BANANAS when you do it to them a few times, especially on the road in a hostile stadium. Chase is a really good backup for the Saints, in that he's "like" Drew and the plays kinda look somewhat the same, but he's also got his own thing going on with the crazy take-off-running thing. He's the $1 Million Dollar Man, and Drew's the $100 Million Dollar Man. |

SaintsBro:
I buy that... I do recall saying in preseason he needs some time with MLB to learn how to SLIDE. Rugby: Experts watch him daily. I am sure if he had shown then something in practice by now he would have had opportunity. |
