Brees gives record-setting football to Hall of Fame

CANTON, Ohio (AP) -- The Pro Football Hall of Fame has received the football Drew Brees threw to eclipsed Hall of Fame quarterback Johnny Unitas' record of 47 consecutive games with a touchdown pass.

Brees broke the record with a 40-yard pass to Devery Henderson during a 31-24 victory over San Diego on Sunday night, marking Brees' 48th straight game with a scoring pass, a streak that began on Oct. 18 2009 in a victory over the New York Giants.

Before Brees began closing in the mark late last season, no quarterback had come within 10 games of it. New England's Tom Brady currently has the third-longest streak, which also is active and reached 37 last Sunday.

Hall of Fame President Steve Perry says the hall appreciates the chance to preserve Brees' accomplishment.

Drew should have said this:

"I love the NFL. I love the game of football. I have the ultimate respect for the men who came before me - those who are honored forever in the Hall of Fame. This ball belongs there. I can not, in good conscience, offer this ball to the Hall of Fame while the NFL is under the questionable leadership of Roger Goodell. Consider my continued possession of this ball a silent protest of the unfortunate state the NFL finds itself in under Roger Goodell's leadership. " - Drew Brees

I just saw an interview he gave, is on NFL morning show. NFL net ight rerun it. HalloFame requested that ball.
Good for his legacy.
Good for Saints legacy to be there.

Despite all of this bounty stuff, This season will be great for the Saints simply because of what Drew and his offense continue to accomplish even in losing. Even when our season plays out like a vintage one, it is still more respectable and prestigious now. This whole situation is unbelievable as a Saints fan...
