And the Emmy Goes to......
We've all heard about the "new" and "improved" defense this year. Who knows how they will play this year, but one thing is certain. And that is the Saints coaches and front office deserve an Emmy for the sales job they have accomplished this off-season. Going into the off-season, the linebacker and cornerback positions were the most criticized areas on the team. Most fans were certain ONE of the areas would be addressed properly in the off-season. But we waited and watched as every marquee player was signed by another team. Fans were mad has hell that we didn't land any of those guys. Even to the point were some season ticket holders swore they wouldn't renew their tickets!! Maybe some folks had Brian Young and Jason Craft pegged as top players to be signed. My hunch is NOBODY even knew much about either one. But attention quickly turned to the draft. Vilma was the one everyone wanted or DeAngelo Hall or one of the other top CB's. Now, there could have been SOMEONE here starting Will Smith and Courtney Watson "threads", but I can't recall them. Again, everyone was as mad as hell about the draft. But, since the draft we have gotten - HYPE - HYPE - HYPE- I guess it does a body good!! Had yours today? Going once? Going twice? Sold to the guy with the Saints "goggles" on!! The Saints have to be commended for bringing all the Saints fans back to the optimistic side. But, then again, they do it every year. Even me. I expect us to be a playoff team My vote for the Emmy goes to Jim Haslett and the Saints front office. [Edited on 11/8/2004 by GumboBC] |
