Coming off the Bye week
The season has been less predictable that a steel octagonal shaped room full of super bouncy balls.
A lot of people are talking about a need to go 13 and out to do anything with the remainder of the season. That it no where near the case. Divisionally we are 1 win behind the Falcons, for NFC South Champs... We beat Atlanta (who is 6-0 but only by the slimmest of margins) twice, Tampa bay twice and Carolina once, and we are conference champs. 5 wins not in a row and we are in the play offs. Atlanta is NOT dominate, they are getting lucky. If the ball bounces the other way in 2 games they are 4-2. 0-1 Divisionally just like we are. If we win in Weeks 7,10,13,15,17 we are Divisional Champs. We do not even have to win two in a row. Injuries are going to be a big item this week, I suspect because it was a bye week the team avoided the media to focus. We should start seeing reports in a day or so about progress. Who is hurt presently? I mean hurt and not able to practice or play? If we make it through Tampa Bay we get one of our coaches back. We have the #7 scoring offense that is looking better each week and a defense that is trending very well.. Ignore 32nd in the league in yardage given up by our defense. yards do not win games. We are 3th in ave points given up but that is trending better. We are however 21st in redzone efficiency... let them run the field all day as long we we keep them out of the endzone out Offense can keep up and win. We are 2nd in the league in Redzone offense. |

Re: Coming off the Bye week
You made some good points there. But no more fooling around for us. We gotta start winning regularly, not all of them but we can ill afford more than 2 losses the rest of the way out if we want a solid shot at the playoffs.

Re: Coming off the Bye week
I'm not so sure we need a solid record to do well in the playoffs. there are plenty of teams that go in like that and cant get past week 1 (Atlanta)... Playoffs are a different animal. If we get in we will do fine.

Re: Coming off the Bye week
The parody in the league this year is stronger than ever. Not much from week to week makes sense. Green Bay looked like world beaters against what I thought was THE best team in the league last night . Cushing can't possibly have made that big of a difference on the defense. My point is, more than ever, it's a long season and a lot of football is left. Buckle up and enjoy the ride, we have a long way to geaux!!

Re: Coming off the Bye week
Atlanta is winning some close games that come down to their kicker. But in a season you need to win those games which keeps the momentum. I just don't see Atlanta as a dominant force a couple of injuries to key players could really put them in a tailspin.
