Each sport seems to use one, heroic figure as a scapegoat to clear their own names:

Track & Field Ben Johnson

Baseball Barry Bonds (et al)

Cycling Lance Armstrong

And let me say that Lance was merely the best "doper" out there and that in itself created the jealousy that led to his ultimate demise.
